How many Reps when on cutting routine...

lightout

New member
Hi
I am about to start my cutting cycles but i dont have my routine yet and i just wanted to know how many reps should i do when i am cutting? i am doing 8-10 reps right now should i move them up? thanks

Reps have nothing to do with burning fat.

If you want to preserve as much muscle as you can while dieting stick to training heavy and keep your reps in the 5-8 range.

Agreed.

What do high reps do? Well, they stimulate some metabolic processes, such as growth hormone and testosterone release. They also generate lactic acid in the muscles worked. They tend to induce sarcoplasmic hypertrophy (the "stuff" the is in and around the actual muscle fibers, the "supporting" stuff for the fibers such as mitochondria etc.).

For fat burning, you CAN use high reps (anyone who's done high rep clean & press or deadlifts knows how intense they can be) but I would NOT do it at the expense of strength training in the 5-8 range. Maybe AFTER you do some heavy work, throw in a few rapid, high-rep burnout sets to get the heartrate up. But don't sacrifice your heavy work.

It's annoying that Omega deleted that drivel I wrote the other day.

The real question to be asking is how many calories to be eating when on cutting routines.

What a douce-bag. If you had any training sense AT ALL - you would be Really incredibly RUDE to that SHIIIIT!!!1!

amateur.

Proto - how is your lifting going?

Instead of trying to up your heart rate while lifting, how about upping it alot while doing extra cardio?

So what got your goat, snake-oil salesperson?

5-8 reps will be fine. Go over at your leisure but there's no need.

Exactly - why would you change the rep range that yeilds the most benefit??

I lose absolute strength when cutting, but can usually keep my rep strength the same. Also, changing up the rep range can help disguise the fact you're losing strength.

5-10 should be fine.. no maxing out, and even triples can be risky if you're catabolic and more prone to injury.

Your dry English humor and snub rudeness.
Seems you delight at snubbing the site when you were in C and C, and then you snub people like me who were NEVER once rude to you and in fact liekd you very much........

this is not a game I am talking to you man to man
NOT ONCE did I ever do anything TO YOU , not even a word

You're doing it now and did it earlier in the thread. Something I said or did at some time has upset you. I regret that.

Please explain 'seems' in this context. I could say, "Seems you've flipped". Of course, I wouldn't since that'd be as rude as your comment.

Your spamming the Weights forum is rude in itself. Doing it in collusion with another member as you did was reprehensible.

I have no beef with you, Omega. I've always found you reasonably pleasant and charming.

Collusion? False that was a customer who bought a unit. Would you like to censor his feedback?

Spamming? False thats called Sponsorship. Is ONE THREAD really too much for you to handle?

Dont use your word games on me bro, you know I never EVER even threw one word of negativity in your direction, and you put it on your self to be a bitter agressor, albiet pretty snub about it.

Regret? yes I do have regret since it seems your a one man show in this.
If you said sorry or ceased I would forgive you in an instant..........
I am speaking as a friend when I say this
