come on then ladies and gentlemen, how long would you give it until anarchy breaks out, nobody can afford anything, 100 strong mobs go round looting stuff, raping and pillaging, and large bombs start getting thrown about like killing is going out of fashion?

you reckon?im not so sure you know, i can see it all going to the shitter within 5, prices of fuel are going to keep rising, in turn making the price of everything else go up. in britain the average wage is £60,000, but two thirds of the population earn well below that, soon enough noone will be able to afford anything, the looting will start, more pricks with tea towels on their heads are going to go boom on trains, its not looking good.

You said complete disarray. I don't think increasing prices, etc is going to cause complete disarray, we will all just have to learn to adapt to it all

It is already in disarry.

There were more conflicts and wars in the past year than any year on record. We see the world differently because we live in peace and luxury. All is not well.

exactly, i have never been one to be paranoid, but i just get this feeling that the illusion of the world holding itself together will not last much longer.cue judgement day lololol

Conflict is innate in every human being and in every culture. It is our nature to fight. Nuclear weapons have lowered the chance of large scale conflicts. IMO WW III would have happened by now if it were not for nuclear weapons.

I think things will get interesting when radical Islamic nations obtain nuclear weapons. Unlike Western cultures, where the threat of mutual destruction prevented nuclear war, radical Islamic cultures are willing to destroy themselves. This changes everything. I see WW III happening and it will not be pretty.

I think it will be awesome. I hope for it to happen in my lifetime, because after such a war there will have to be major change. Hopefully for the better.

No more dicking around where things slowly go into the shitter. A better balance of power must be established, and this war should help give us a clean slate.

Anyone who is optimistic about the next decade is severely underinformed. But americans in general are underinformed. They just close their eyes to what is really happening around them and rely on wishful thinking.

Nah. We've already made it through multiple plagues, a couple of recent world wars, some crusades, and a bunch of other stuff. We'll get by. We just need to work on getting over all of our petty differences.

what about when all the fossil fuels run out, which cant be long, wont everyone just start to fight over what little is left?

Yep, but we'll adjust.

The science is out there for alternate methods and fuel sources, but recieves relatively little funding given the importance and potential impact. Rather sad.

No one's going to give up their car today so their grandchildren will have a little more fuel. Likewise, no one's going to take alternate fuel stuff seriously until it's staring us right in the face.

People, in general, don't think about the future. Why should we suffer? We'll just make our children deal with it.

*sigh*

But there weren't well ove 6 billion people back then. The human race will survive the question is how many?

There are hundreds of millions of people suffering today.

There are always many people everywhere suffering everyday. This is nothing new.

The human race has continued to increase in numbers. The earth can only sustain so many people taxing her resources. If something comes and wipes a few million of us off, it's not necessarily a tradgedy -- just a way to ensure the race is able to continue on into the future.

People want peace and love for everybody at all times, whether the population is 6 billion, 0.6 billion or 60 billion. It simply cannot happen, and at higher numbers, the suffering will only increase.

We've done this to ourselves. We are to blame. We are the cause of all this suffering. And one of three things will happen: we correct the error ourselves, the earth will correct it for us, or we will annihilate ourselves. The latter is the most unlikely possibility, as life has a way of persevering.

The instinctual need to reproduce coupled with the high intelligence of the human race is a problem indeed. We've overcome the normal limiting mechanisms.

We need to either stop reproducing or find some other places to live. The latter might be little more than science fiction at this point, but it's far more realistic than the former.
