How long to go on Starting Strength?

Self-Inflicted

New member
Hello everyone!

I've been doing starting strength for about 6 weeks now and I'm wondering how long I should continue for. I sort of want to change because I'm getting kind of bored of the same workout over and over, but it may not be the right decision so I'm asking all of you for some advice.

Starting out I was 204lbs at 18% bodyfat. Currently I am at 200lbs and I believe my body fat has decreased, but haven't had it measured.

Starting lifts were

Squat - 195/5
Bench - 170/5
Dead - 230/5
Press - 115/5
Clean - 115/3

Beginning of week 6 I am at

Squat - 265/5
Bench - 200/5
Dead - 300/5
Press - 155/5
Clean 175/3

I don't think I can keep adding 5 lbs every workout to my squats so I see improvement slowing down there. Same goes with Press and cleans. I shake just trying to brace myself to do the presses, but I get through them. Deads though I can see myself moving up more along with my bench.

So what do you guys think? Time to make a change or keep on going for another 6 weeks?

Sorry if I left out any info, but I'll be checking often to answer any questions. Thanks!

I would go until you stop making gains or feel a real slow down. If you are still able to progressively overload, then what stop yet?

There's nothing stopping you from doing a routine that includes the exercises you still CAN overload with and switching out the ones you stalled on.

wow bro that is pretty awesome!! but yeah that's a good rule of thumb; don't change up a routine until you hit the wall. As long as you're making constant gains, keep going..
