How long do you hold a grudge?

I almost always forgive immediately, so long as it didnt involve someone I love, then I never forgive.

But then sometimes, and it could be the stupidest thing, I can't drop it for some reason.

There was one kid my sophomore year of high school, a hockey player, who spent an entire class making comments about one of my family members. We didn't get two feet out of class before I beat him senseless. Then every time from that point onward whenever he passed me in the hall, I would whack him hard on the back of the head, till he started going the other way whenever he saw me.

Also, what's up Lestat

It's a family trait for me...I hold grudges, and I also remember everything.
Shitty memories and wasted hate from the 4th grade...

There are two people in my life that i will never be able to forgive, but most people are forgivable in about a month for me.

As a Christian aren't you supposed to always forgive? No matter what and pray for enimies?

I honestly do believe that, I just lack the courage or ability to act out on my convictions at times.

I had a friend through high school and the better part of college. We both enrolled in the same Business program at NYU.

When his sister was getting hassled at school, I went with him to "explain" to the kids that she should be left alone for health reasons.

He mooched constantly. When we went to Lauderdale on spring break, he stayed with us and didnt contribute a dime. Didnt even bring money for food, just expected us all to pay for him. And we did, cause we felt bad. Looked out for him.

Then he joins a frat at school. I was going home for the weekend and my gf was staying behind. His frat was having a party, all I asked was that he made sure no one tried to harm her. Thats all. This one prick, asshole who always walked around with his hands in his pants, cornered her at the party and tried to let his hands roam. MY "friend" didnt do anything even though he was less than 10ft away.

So when I got back that monday I went to the frat house and kicked the shit out of the kid. Then I asked him why he didnt help her, and he answered "cause I couldnt go against one of my frat brothers" Then I beat him worst than the other kid.

i hold grudges for a long time, just the way i've always been. depends on who crossed me as to if i forgive and forget or not. the 2nd time, forget it, it'll never go away. this also applies to family.

forgive. never forget.

I find its easier and safer to hate people, and then have them make up for it - I am easy to forgive and be cool with someone if their cool with me.

I dont usually find myself in a situation where I would hold a grudge for a long time - I guess that time will come.

haha, sounds like the christians on this thread are the ones who have the hardest time with such issues.

I dont hold grudges as I tend to forget about people rathar easily. Plus I move around alot so no point in thinking about things. I was usually the one thatd have the grudges held against me, anyways even though Im a way cool customer. It'll be like a whole troop of people river dancing on my grave.

I am the worst person to hold grudges
If they do something to someone i love or care about, i can NOT look at them and talk to them the same........id rather see them die

Holding a grudge takes too much energy. If someone does somehting shitty to me, I simply remove them from my life. Only had to do that a handful of times, fortunetly.

Yup. I generally can forgive pretty easily, but I don't always forget.

well i remember this one kid in kindegarten that would take my 1/2 pint of milk in those hard to open box milks(*see note). well i guess that was close to 30yrs ago. l saw him at home depot the other day and i put a nail under his tire. and to be honest, im not sure if im over it so i cant answer your question.

*did you know that they recently did a study and found that those milk cartons are so hard to open for those little childrens that the teachers had to spend the full lunch hour just going around and helping them. they are going to go to a easily assessible plastic container now.

I try to forgive and forget....but it doesn't always work. Time will heel most wounds and may never touch others. That is why it is suggested to keep your friends close and your enemies closer. As previously mentioned, vengeance is best served cold.

I'm probably one of the worst for holding grudges... I get pissed off and most of the time never talk to the person again, even for little things. I guess it's the nature of the beast

You'd have to screw up pretty bad for me to hold a grudge.

its graded depending on what they did, though i have the capacity to hold a grudge forever, and to be a tad malicious when i get the chance to screw something up for them. i only screw up little things, though...like marriages, finances, jobs...that sort of thing

I'm presently holding two grudges. One from the 8th grade, and one from 1992.

It all depends on the seriousness of the offense. Probably for a lifetime in some instances. I still remember when this bully hit me in the back, back when I was in the 6th grade. He was older than me and back then I was a small, peaceful guy. I still like to kick his ass for that.

it depends on what they did, I dont deal well with disrespect at all,so I hold a few to this day.

the rest Ive forgiven but never forget

have held one for about 12 years with my sister

I just feel like I am compromising my principles I start being all nice like nothing ever happened.
