how long are your training sessions?

How long are your training sessions both on-cycle and off-cycle?

I always though that training got less effective after an hour, but I have seen some huge guys in my gym that have training sessions of 2-3 hours. WHat's up?

I spend around 1 1/2 hours in gym daily. That includes cardio. To me more than that is a waste. I guess it also depends on how you life. If you do a totol body work out I can see it taking you a couple hours.

Basically it all depneds on how hard you work.
Are you lifting to bulk, or are you trying to cut.

Bulking to me is heavy weights low rep, however I have longer rest inbetween sets.

When I cut, lower weight, hig reps and around 45 secs between sets.

as far as workout on or off. I am consistent with same type of thing regardless.

later bro

over an hour when on, 45 minutes when off. chest always takes a good hour though, usually 1.5 hours for chest when on, i do push ups at the end till i am done

damn i am done with most muscle groups in 20-30 min.
i rest about 45 sec between sets.. go to failure on almost every set and prolly do around 10-12 working sets total

Tops for me is 45 minutes, but usually around 30 minutes unless I do cardio. I train 4 times a week.

You know I was wondering the same thing, about guys working out for hours. I lift by myself, it takes about an hour give or take 15 min. Chest is also the most time consuming. I think some guys over train.

Usually an hour and a half whether I'm trying to drop weight or build mass. Then depending on what I'm trying to achieve, my training will change. As of now I do 30min jump rope circuts with Burpee pushups and situps, 30 min of weights, then another 30min of jumpe rope circuts. Most ppl who sit in the gym for 2-3 hours are talking with thier buddies and wasting space.

There are alot of space wasters at my gym, mostly between 4pm and 7pm.

45min to 1 hr depending on the muscle group, plus 20 min cardio. I never go over an hour even when on. If really I need more, I'll squeeze in another short 30 min workout later in the day rather than go over an hr.

30-45 min Lifting while off 5 days a week (AM cardio 15-20 min 2-3 days a week)

45-Hour Lifting while On (15-30 min cardio after workout) 5 days a week

Its hard to leave earlier then 45 min when I am on... I just have a ton of energy and dont burn out easy.

I met some natural guys that had impressive physiques at a bar working the door. It was slow and we talked about training and diet. They said they did 20 sets for chest total. Usually taking 2 hours or more. I can't imagine myself spending that much time in the gym. After an hour and a half I feel burnt out. At most, if I am bullshitin, an hour and a half, on or off cycle.

That's what prompted my original post. There is a guy in my gym who claims that he is all natural but he is one big mofo and his workouts take 2-3 hours. I just can't understand how he can build so much muscle naturally working out for that long. I thought for sure that would lead to overtraining

haha i sound dumb sayin this but i read somewhere ( haha i know dont believe everything u read) that after 47 minutes ur muscles stop doin something not sure haha but it said workouts should not last any longer than an hour

Yeah no kidding, these guys were big but didn't have the juiced look. Most guys you can tell if they know what they are doing. I could be wrong but I would believe them. I soaked in everything they said and tried it out. I upped my major body part sets to 20 sets, 12-15 for smaller groups. I got a little stronger but that was it. It wasn't worth all the time I was spending in the gym.

i spend no more than an hour doing weights in any one day, any more than that is just overkill and you aren't training hard enough if you can keep focus much longer than that.........plus 30-45 min cardio session at the end, so about 1.75 hours max time in gym, usually 1.5 hours

Pretty basic split bro
Day 1 AM Back PM Shoulders/Bis
Day 2 AM Chest PM Tris/calves
Day 3 AM Quads PM Hammies/ Abs
DAy 4 same as day 1
Day 5 same as day 2
Day 6 same as day 3

The only time of the year I dont do this is recovery mode after a long layoff...then i just train 6 days a week 1 time a day till i get my conditioning back
nevr had a problem with overtraining...i really think the 2 a days prevented me from overtraining cause i was able to really get in alot of quality meals around periods where my body was in a highly receptive state to nutrient intake

Bro,
Do you have a professional job or do you consider your training a career? Also, what are your eating and sleeping patterns like. I would figure, when your not training, you would be eating or sleeping with that amount of work!!!
Great dedication!

Well it obviouslly works for you. I would like to try it but I dont think I could make enough time for food and sleep if I spent 12 hours in the gym a week. Again K for the dedication and the body that the dedication has gotten you.

I Consider training my hobby really. I am a successful buissness man. I have really already made my money. I just go into new buissness ventures for fun these days( I made all the $$ Ill ever need from when i was about 21-24).
As for meal prep, I like to be in the kitchen so i just prep all my food/shakes/supps ect...for the week in advance so I dont have to worry about it(sunday and wedn nights are prep times). Sleep patterns are about 6 hours a night(never needed any more..EVER) maybe up to 7 if i prepping for a show, cardio tires me when im on low carbs.
but really i ifind I have ALOT of free time to pursue my other interests. I really love my life..:)

Thx bud, Ive trained training less but I just dont seem to get the same results as quickly

Think about a stone mason setting one hundred pound blocks. He preps the mortar picks up the hundred pound block and sets it, this is one rep. Then he repeats this process, another rep. After an hour and a half he doesn't say "Oh gee I'm over training." He just keeps setting the blocks until the day is done. That's eight hours of working out with three breaks. And he does this five days a week all natural. And there aren't too many little guys that are stone masons.
