how is this for a post workout shake??

my p.w. shake:

- 1 scoop ProLab Pure Whey prot powder
- 1.5 - 2 tbsp honey
- 1/2 banana (for taste)

~ cals = 300
~ prot = 23 g
~ carb = 28 g (from honey) ; 14 g (from banana)
~ fat = 3 g

Should i leave out the banana?? but without it, the shake tastes kinda dull. But i guess i could live without it.
Also, I drink like 3/4 of the shake while i'm working out (just to keep up my energy thru out the workout). and then i finish it afterwards. should i drink it all after, or is what i'm doing ok??

I would double your carbs and protein, unless you're planning on drinking 2 of those. Protein is very little, and to ensure a good insulin spike and to replenish glycogen stores in muscles go for 50g of sugar. I prefer dextrose, all that honey doesn't taste too good.

first off, thanx 2 all of u that replied!!

see i was thinking of making the whole thing bigger, but then again...i'm not too big.
5'2"
118 lbs
But i guess since all of u came up w/ the same suggestion, well i should have more after my workout.

Carbs

With your stats I would still up the carbs some. I would go with ~50g. Try some dextrose as mentioned above, it taste much better than honey.

Here's my opportunity! I've been thinking about marketing my post-workout shake, but I'll give it to ya'll for free. :) Seriously, though, I think it's not too bad. Recently, I haven't been drinking it because I've been dieting, but if I were to be bulking(next week, holy thank you Jesus!) I'd do this:

1 cup low-fat plain yogurt.
1 cup skim-milk
4 tablespoons hershey's chocolate syrup
2 tablespoons natural peanut butter
1-2 scoops protein powder(personally, I like Optimum Nutrition's)
1 cup Orang juice.
2 banannas.

I know it sounds kind of not good, but, really, it's scrumptious. Especially wiht the OJ. Etiher way, who gives a fuck what it tastes like right? We're bodybuilders and taste has nothing to do with it. We eat tuna out of the can and eat flax seed oil by the spoonfull. Taste has nothing to do with it, goddamnit! It's performance nutrition, not dinner by Emiril. But, seriously, I'm not lying and it does, indeed, taste good.
