When I was a kid, my dad would constantly watch shows like 'America's Most Wanted', 'Unsolved Mysteries', etc. Then of course, we watched good ol' Freddy and Jason.
Let's just say, I was a scared fucking kid. I always thought people were going to kidnap me. If I saw a car I didn't like, I'd run the other way.
After I'd leave for school and my mom would be left in the house by herself, if a thought came to mind that the front door was unlocked, no matter how far away I was... I'd go back to make sure the door was locked.
I was paranoid as all hell.
Corn pointed out that this is fantasy vs reality. Corn... you're incorrect. First of all, it's far from 'fantasy'... second of all, for many people, whether it be them firsthand, a friend, a neighbor, relative... many people have been touched by these horrific acts that are shown in horror movies, you refer to as fantasy.
Fantasy is make believe. Women and children being raped and killed is far from a 'fantasy' or make believe world.
I don't watch those kind of shows or movies anymore. As curling said 'there is enough scary stuff in life without having to purposely watch it for entertainment.'
