never done a glute shot and doing one tonight...if your in the right quadrant can you come anywhere close to it....just looking for some info on how dumb you have to be to mess this up?
how hard is it to hit sciatic nerve?

I've never had a problem with it but I don't think it would be very easy if you use a long pin and have no butt. I would usually aim a little high on the glute, and about 40-45 degrees out from middle if that is even able to be visualized. And, no, not visualizing my butt.

Never had a problem and i do glutes once a week. I just hit the upper outside and stay far away from that area totally.
Never had a problem and been doing it for years.
I'm a thigh man....But, make sure you aim high and toward the hip.

so higher then the tailbone and all the way over 90 degrees to the back or 90 degree to the side of your ass cheek
Everyone's sciatic is within a few inches of the ass crack - just stay away from there - at first it will seem odd to inject where you're supposed to. Almost like your hitting too high on your hip but's it's OK. In any case use a 1.5" needle and leave a good 0.25" out so if you do hit the sciatic and the needle snaps you can at least pull the needle out.

First, mentally divide one "cheek" into four equal parts. Use the upper outer quadrant for dorsogluteal injections. Yes, at the top of the buttock the sciatic nerve is close to "the crack," but is located wider in lower parts of the glute. It's not easy to hit in the outer upper quadrant, but not altogether impossible. More likely, you may hit the Superior Gluteal Artery, which is not pleasant, and potentially very hazardous, though, due to the smaller diameter of the artery in the region, the outer upper is still your best best. Another thing to consider is the fact that adipose tissue is unpredictable and often varying in this region, making it harder to get an IM injection, vs. the ventrogluteal (hip) site, where adipose tissue is much more thin and consistent. The risk of dosroglute is that of a subcutaneos injection, instead of the preferred deep IM inject. Still, Test can be painful, and ventrogluteal Test injections can leave you with difficulty walking and the like.

Yup, you shouldnt have a problem at all. So far glutes is all ive hit, and never had a problem doing my own. Aim high and outside, aspirate, and you should be good to go. Im gonna have to hit quads on this next one though, eod shots, i cant keep packin everything in there. Little nervous about venturing down to the quads, but Id imagine its easier then reachin back there for the glute. Just nervous about these leg twitches and nerves that are all over.
