to be 54%bf? (serious question)

A friend of mine went to a nutrition store to get on a 'program' .. yea one of those lose 10lbs in 10 days..

Anyway.. whatever floats your boat.

So the chick weights her takes her measurments and then does a 3 pt check on her.

This chick is 5'6 135lbs and was told she's 54% body fat ... when she called me and told me that I nearly choked.

for a guy, you'd have to be super fat.

for a girl, eh, it's about normal.

normal?

you spelled 50-70 wrong

lol

:doublefi:

Really this chick isn't fat,... she could use some more muscle but no damn way she's in the 50%

Wow. 54%? Is she sure that the other person measured it right?

I think the lady was WAY off.

Same lady did mine and came out with some wacked out number right before my comp.. I was ripped and she told me 18% ... went to a different guy and got it done there and he came out with 11%

I had my B.F. tested at a gym a coupla years ago. I was dismayed at the result, & the tester said he had a girl in there with so little muscle, she tested 35%, & she was a model.

Yeah, your friend should go for the water weighting then. Only 2 - 3 % off. I keep wanting to do it but I don't really want to know that badly.

I figure that surgery will fix all that anyways.

I only did mine to make sure i continued to have a loss... I really didn't care what the number was I went by the mirror.

I don't think we have the water one here at the university.

Fun house mirrors are good that way...

SHIT, I was going so good with being nice for a change. :D

I thought that most unis have one. Besides, what's a percentage anyway? Its not like someone on the street is going to go "OMG...SHE's 16.25%...WHAT A FAT COW!"

hydrostatic weighing is probably overkill for most people. i think it costs around 50 bucks, right?

an average of 2-3 multi-point skin fold tests should be good enough.

The problem with that is that you have to find someone who can actually do it correctly. Or buy one of those scales that can do it (if accuracy isn't important).

It's the Canadian in me. I call him Steve. He comes over on Monday's when the wife is out.

Great, there I go being all Canadian again.

BTW, I hope you like it. You don't know what it means now, but you will. ;)

From behind, you shove it in her ass . Thereupon she turns around in a one-eyed winking motionsignaling that she has been there and done that.

in my home country we are taught from the age of 5 to properly self-administer the skin fold tests.

God, what a scam. Your friend's BMI is right in the 21% range, which means she is of normal body weight for her height. It's reasonable to use an online calculator to arrive at a GUESSTIMATE of lean body mass. I put in your friends numbers and got the following:

According to your measurements - weight of 135 pounds and height of 5' 6", your lean body mass is estimated to be 100.88 . Since the ideal body fat percentage for women is 22%, your ideal lean body weight is 101.88 pounds. Remember these are guidelines; your physician should help you determine the ideal weight and body fat for you.

You may be thinking that your lean body mass is your ideal weight or your weight if you were a true "lean machine." Well, it’s not. Your lean body mass is sum of the nonfat parts of your body like muscle, bone ...

34 is a shade over 25% of 135.

Put another way, a person at 54% body fat would be noticeably obese.

I agree... when she told me that i was like WTF? maybe 25, but 54? no damn way!

I don't think she could be much over 30% with those numbers, unless she has no skeleton.
