How do you rate The Evil Dead...

Just want to know your opinions on this film as i'm thinking of ordering it on DVD.
So, what do you think yay or nay?
Worth it or not?
I haven't seen the film but it only costs £5 more to buy it than to rent it so i thought if it's any good then i might as well buy it.

Cheers

Stu.

It bombed big time in the theaters...I'd wait and do the Rental first.

Evil Dead rocks, although I'm a bigger fan of the 3rd sequel, Army of Darkness. Evil Dead's more of a straight-up horror film. Evil Dead 2 and AoD are more funny than scary.

It's got quite a cult following.

I've only seen the second one, which, according to reviews, was more of a comedic nature. It was kind of cool though. Then again, I was drunk off my ass at the time.

If you're a fan of campy horror, I would go ahead and buy "Evil Dead" if you think you'll watch it more than once.

Sorry I was thinking of the Movie Resident Evil.

The Evil Dead remake in 82 was okay. The original in black in white for the 60's was by far more tense. Better acting.

Brains....must eat brains.....

Pay no attention to Wodin. He is thinking of the second one that was in the theater, and it did suck. The first one however, FUCKING SCAREY. Stay up and watch it late, I dare ya.

Money well spent.

Are you thinking of Night of the Living Dead?

I don't recall any brain eating in Evil Dead of any of the sequels.

I'd go for it, scariest movie ever!

Ditto. The Evil Dead is one of the all time horror classics - but more for how it was made than for just the story itself. A couple of college students spent 4 years making the first segment as a school project. They only had $5,000 as their entire working budget over the four years... and you actually see these guys age on camera. The story itself was highly effective... made especially interesting by their having to work within such tight restrictions to keep it on budget. The character Ash is one of the all time fun horrow film heros and in Army Of Darkness his character is given an excellent vehicle to showcase what a man can do when one hand is chopped off and replaced with a sawed off shotgun.

No, no, no Sofa...hand replaced by a CHAINSAW! Come on man! :D

Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas.

What a funny ass line. That guy was so cool. Thanks for the memory project.

Alright, who wants some? Who wants to have a little?!? You!

Hey...your shoelace is untied.

Alright you primitive screwheads, listen up. See this? This...is my boomstick! A 12-gauge, double-barrelled Remington. S-Mart's top o' the line. You can find it in the sporting goods department. This sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Has a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. Now I swear...the next one of you PRIMATES...even TOUCHES me...

Oops brain hiccup. Thanks for correcting that. One hand a chain saw... the other carrying a sawed off shotgun. In short - the ultimate fun guy in a world filled with the walking dead.
