how do you keep weight off

i don't know if i want to spend the next 60 years counting calories. I've always viewed this lifestyle as 'another' thing i enjoy, not something i build myself around.

Diet, cardio & drugs are the best way for me to lose weight, but i don't want to gain it all back, but i don't want to diet 24/7.

would a 2 week diet every month or two keep weight down? for example, i'd eat normally for a month, then diet/cardio/drugs for a couple of weeks then normal for a month again on & off?

I remember some guy on EF posting about how whenever his BF% got into the double digits he went on ECA, and he dropped back down to single digits.

Well, I consider healthy eating a life long habbit, if not it will come back and bite you on the ass. You have to look objectively because in 2 weeks is it really feasible to "lose body-fat" or just muscle mass. I would highly recommend just designing a plan that fits your lifestyle. Meaning, if you work ED then you need to devise ways of eating "right." Of course, eating right is an subjective term, but 3x a day at the local fast-food join is not a good way to interprit eating right. Just sit down and think of all the myths in bodybuilding, and here you will see that certain things are in need and certain things are not. EX: the ECA stack will NOT drop you to single digits unless it's going from 10% to 9.5% bf (which can be translated as that). Your goals have to be long term, and if that is not what you want to do then a healthy lifestyle is hard to follow.

You can try the ANABOLIC diet where you do Ketosis M-F and PIG-OUT (see-food-diet) Sat and Sun.

also, i think i fucked up my glycogen stores on the anabolic diet (another reason i am wary of long term dieting).

About 6 years ago, i went on the anabolic diet (it is called the atkins diet now). in 2 months i lost about 15 lbs. dropped to 180, around 13% bf. Anyway, when i was on the diet i had more energy (i could play basketball for 1/2 an hour and not feel tired. back when i was on a diet consisting mainly of sugar that wasn't possible) so i decided to stay on for the energy.

after 2 years i quit, and my body got really big. Now i'm at 277 27%. however, i gained about 40 lbs of muscle somehow in the process of regrowing. Before the anabolic diet my arms were 14, now they are 17 but i am not stronger.

I tried the anabolic diet again a couple years ago. i was 272. in 2 weeks of low calories high fat/high protein/low carb i lost 7 lbs, down to 265. however, within the next few weeks i went up to 289.

So anyway, i don't want to do anything low carb. i don't know what i did to myself by being on the anabolic diet for 2 years, but i am guessing it has something to do with glycogen storing in the muscles.

One of two things might have happened: a thyroid problem, or an insulin sensitivity problem, or if you're unlucky BOTH!

I would say your next step would be to try a ZONE diet, where you stick to a basic weight x 12 routine, and do 40% protein/30% carbs/ 30% fat...keeping everything in the healhy mode...making sure to get EFA's and MCT's in your system. Adding some Yohimburn around the trouble areas and running some 5-HTP and ECA or NYC (dont' forget the ALA).

Also, the "muscle" gains on your arms: if you went up in body fat that probably means your arms gained some of the fat, so don't 100% count it as a muscle gain.

lol. i don't know what it is to be honest. However, i've had my LBM tested and it is about 200 lbs. It was around 160 before i did the diet.

how would insulin do it? would i be hypersensitive or hyposensitive to it?

when i did a dnp cycle a few years ago, i got pretty bad insulin shock when i came off. i don't know if that is related, or how.

Dont think of yourself as dieting for the rest of your life. Multiply how many times you eat per day. I eat 6-7 times a day, X 7 days gives me 42-49 meals per week. I try my hardest to make sure that 38-45 of them are very heatlhy and I have a few enjoyable ones. Find foods that are healthy and taste good and stick to it. I like to do a crum diet to get where I want, then a Zone, or 50Protein 30 carb 20 fat diet to maintain. Im at about 215 8% bodyfat and Im very happy, I've been 240 at 12% bodyfat, and 180at 4% bodyfat. FInd yourself a good range where you like your body and keep it up. The biggest key for me to stay lean and look great is to eat good, plan ahead, and lots of cardio. I do cardio everyday unless my legs tell me no, or I feel real tired. I alternate a Slow 1 hour day, and then a HIIT 20min session, On the slow day I burn around 700-800 cals so the cross trainer says, and on my hiit days I burn around 400. Either way I feel really hot and good after the cardio. I lift 4 days a week, Chest, Tri monday, back Bi, Tuesaday, W REST thursday Shoulders, Friday Legs, weekend OFF, then cardio everyday if I can, usally 1 day of rest from cardio. I try to either lift, or do cardio each day, I try to stay very active each day, keeps my metobolism going. You can eat perfect and not cheat all the time, but you can eat good, follow a plan, and look great. As the post is titled, this diet or being healthly isnt a sprint but a marathon. DOnt wake up 15years from now and be that fat guy you dispise today.

what do you mean by basic weight? what i weigh, LBM or what i want to weigh?

how do you think my insulin sensitivity is messed up? Would supplements like ALA or chromium picolinate be benificial?

i liked the atkins diet. It was easy to stay on & gave great results. I just don't want to risk doing damage to myself or fucking up my glycogen stores more. i lost 7 lbs in 2 weeks on a calorie restricted version, with no cardio or diet supplements. But the weight came back in spades when i quit.

i started the anabolic diet when i was about 15. i was on 5 days a week, and took the weekend off. The diet worked for the first 2 months, but i stayed on due to the energy until i was 17.

I'm ashamed to admit this, but until a few weeks ago i used to drink alot of pepsi daily. Like 3/4 a gallon a day. So i went from going days w/o insulin 5 days a week for 2 years to eating about 500 grams of sugar a day.

basic weight meaning your normal weight as far as I know not LBM

ALA might help a bit, but I haven't seen proof; the best thing is adding EFA's to the diet

you need to taper down when coming of CKD, meaning taper down the fat while gradually increasing carbs/proteins

WOW! that's a lot of pepsi, especially 3/4 gallons....I would say that's not the best idea, but what's done is done, now move on and let's get the diet straight

Go get some testing done. Check your thyroid, blood sugar, etc at a doc's. And like Mr. X said, you GOTS-TA taper out of a ckd or any low carb plan. I came out of my last 2 slowly and gained back no chub. i'm up about 5 lbs in a month, w/no increase in waist size. When I'd just flat come off I'd shoot up 15 lbs for about a week, then level off at about 7-8 lbs. higher than my final diet weight.
Just get some tests done. Those weight fluctuations are crazy.
