how do you get a good phone number?

i've got a kick ass cell number but neither AT&T nor Verizon can give me a good regular number. You get to choose between five numbers and they all suck.

What do you need to do to get a really good one?

Get a job with the phone company. (I briefly worked for the local telcom about five years ago, so I hooked up a sweet cell #. ...just waiting for the number portability law to take effect in a few months, so I can transfer to a different carrier.)

...it's a racket though. Qwest will actually charge you extra for an 'easy' number.

my cell # is pretty sweet too. it's basically just three digits repeated. there's no way anyone can forget it. i'm seriously thinking of not having a land line anymore (no one calls me on it anyway and if i can't get a good number...)
