How do you fight a Attempted Assault charge

I went to a football game at my school about 5-6 months ago and got charged with Attempted Assault. The bad part is that its on a police officer. The good part is that I didn't Assault him. So basically they took my tickets, told them I want them back and wouldn't leave. My girlfriend was telling him I had too much to drink or some shit. I walk over to her and he arrests me cause he claims that my hand was in a poking/slapping position and he had no choice but to arrest me. He's a university cop and I doubt he'll even show up to court. The prosecutor is a recent grad from my school (FUCKIN BITCH). And more or less that's the whole case. Oh and I spent nearly 3 days in jail cause it happened over the weekend and went on a probation at my school and had participate in some alcohol research class which I havent done just yet...

yea well my ones a 4th degree joke of a charge and my public attorney hasnt done shit so far I think, havent even heard from that bitch... pretrial is in like 3 days.

I wonder if it's too late too hire a decent lawyer or if it's possible to appeal the decision in case its a shit and get a new lawyer.

bologna sandwitches were the best, I even ate some bitches that kept screaming all day refusing quality food. Can't really complain about the food though, it was edible except for some bullshit cereal that they gave me which tasted like a toilet paper. I'm a fan of good food too but for a jail cell, that was pretty damn good. If I was the president of the united states, I'd make change that menu to bread and milk at best. Fucking costs 65 dollars per day for every prisoner.

hmmm Im going to europe on a vaction from 19th to 5th of july and the pretrial is in 4 days. I wonder if that would work.
One thing for sure tho, I dont wanna pay someone for this bullshit case, I mean I had a friend with kiddnapping, assault charges and some other shit get all his charges dropped. Thats after he paid 8k in lawyers fees. There was pretty much no case against him after investigation but damn, 8 grand is a lotta money to throw away. My brother got his shit dismissed when he actually got charged with resisting arrest and assault on police officer. I think that cost him about a grand so that's not all that bad.
