How do you deal with it??

I'm 21yr old. I'm not harcore by anymeans, but working out has become a part of my life.

Sometimes I love it, othertimes I hate it (useally when i'm tired, or can't do what i did the week previous!!??!!)

I know where I want to be, and I know it's a lifelong challenge to get and maintain it.
I weight in at about 160, 5'11. I'd like to be 175-180 of muscle (I duno if thats alot to gain, i'm at it for a while, but so much to know :P )


Although it is part of my routine, and i largely structure my day around it to some degree; sometimes the day doesn't agree.
Ex. 5 University Term papers due in 4 weeks :| .... How the F do you manage to workout and go healthy when you squeeze maybe 6-7 hours of sleep a nihgt, and when not in class live and die working on papers!

I'm sure others can relate with work!

Sleep 10-12 hours on both weekend days to hep make up some of the sleep deficit.

TRy to get a 30 minute nap midday somewhere every day. During lunch usually works well. Eat hella fast and then nap.

Make sure you're getting 1 gram protein per pound of bodyweight bare minimum and preferably 1.5 grams per pound.

EAT MORE FOOD!

Quit drinking and hanging out with the bro's.

Take a regular 1 a day type multi-vitamin/mineral 2-3x a day.

Maybe moderate your efforts in the gym. Maybe don't go to failure on your sets or at least some of your sets. Rest longer between sets and exercises.
Try higher set, lower rep and heavier weight schemes like 5x5.

And last, but not least................

EAT MORE FOOD!

P.S. You say you want to gain 15-20lbs. That's very easy. Eat lots of healthy food, consume ALOT of protein. If you want it to be all lean muscle gain then expect it to take longer than if you were to just straight up bulk. Do some moderate cardio 3-4x a week or wind sprints 2x a week to keep the metabolism and cardio up if you choose the slower method.

I eat whenever i can, but i refuse to miss a workout over school, it's my best method of relieving stress.

Its sounds like you biggest challenge is time management. Just hang in their and you will learn either through determination to get to the gym or by making mistakes and not getting your work done.

make a diet and schedule to go with it detailing when you can eat and what. this was one of the best tools i ever came up with when i was in college

some good advice right there..."time management" i didnt learn this leson until later in my schooling life..but yes you can fit everything in..quite honestly all you need is 3 days to lift say m-w-f if sdomething should pop up and you need to skip a training session fine try and get it in somewhere else..

you do not need to skip being with your friends..having a social life is important you dont want to be a hermit unless you got a girl like Dev then i would stay in all the time too

As far as training/diet you will need to eat get your protein up and consume good carbs as well..trainng wise stick with the basic compund moves squat bench dead throw in some accessory work and your all set

I got the first post's lesson down pat.

What I was referring to was things like papers and exam periods where my day is get up, sit on the computer, school, libary, computer, sleep.

Not time management, just NO time... Literally, if i want to pass i live breath and die school!
...Double Program, in Law and Political Science....

You know what do you do if your boss says: 'ohh yea, I NEED all those reports (your job depends on it), in 2 days, not next friday :|

You're gonna live,breath, sleep those reports :P

Nothing comes before school (i once didn't do anything for myself, but crap workouts and papers and exams for 2 months!! The girl friend wasn't happy!!

Guess I needed to vent - damn school
