How do you build strong abs?

I work my abs 3x a week , 4 sets of max reps with declined crunch at a high angle. Usually goes this way...~30 reps on 1st set, and 10 for other 3 sets.

I plan to resistance train my abs 2 times a week instead of 3 and strength train my abs the remaining day.

I want strong abs to increase my deadlifts, dips, squats...etc

Anyone know any good exercises?
(and will my ab training be ok? day 1 and day 2: Train them as usual for looks and day 3 Train them with strength)

thanks

What we usually do.

Standing abs. Face the opposite way of a lat machine with a rope handle. Hold the handles to your chest...bend over at the waist and come past parallel with your elbows hitting your knees. This will get your hip-flexors involved too. For a better description goto elitefts.com

Spread eagle situps. Situps with your legs straight but out the the sides in a spread eagle position.

Side bends with dumbells or barbells.

Ab wheel

45 degree situps holding weight.

Roman chair situps

Hanging leg raises.

has anyone else rigged an ab wheel with the camber bar and 25#s on it?

Piece of schedule 80, 2" pipe...about 20" long.

Rock on man, my abs are hurtin just watching that.

If I do direct ab work then it will be hanging leg raises.

I really like those too to be honest. They really seem to help my deadlift at times as well as some of my more athletic "events" that I do.

weighted sit-ups. lay flat on the ground, with your feet straight out in front of you. hold a db on your chest and do a sit up. keep your legs straight out in front of you with your heels on the ground.
