How do I make my waist wider?

Side Oblique exercises on cables, deads and squats without a weightbelt for sure.

C-ditty

Personally, squats and deads have thickened up my waist, but for width I'd say work on those obliques, too. :)

Weighted side bends, weighted twisting crunches, you can also try weighted oblique work on the bodyweight back extension bench thing.

start Swaining!!!!!!

Yeah, Swaining will do the trick on this one! Nothing expands the waistline like hitting the buffet 5 times a day. Go heavy on the pizza and wash it down with Dr. Pepper.

Anyway, honestly, why would you want a wider waist? You want to do something that will make you look less aesthetic? I'd kill to make my waist an inch or two narrower.

Do you need to have a wider waist to develop more core strength? Because if you don't then I wouldn't see the point in actually working to expand it...

I miss my little waist. Before I discovered squats and deadlifts I had a 28-29 inch waist. Now when my fat is down won't come down below 32. It's much more functional but I kind of miss it. I always thought it made my chest, back and shoulders look broader.

Based off my experience. . . squats, deadlifts, good mornings, and swaining have done the trick. .

Not sure if I like the aftermath. . lol!

Deadlifts will increase the side view width of the waist and I been doing them like mad. I need exercises to increase the front width. Reason is my body doesn't look powerful enough cos of my slim waist. Most girls also seem to prefer something big to hold on to. My shoulders are pretty wide, but I d just like to expand the waist bout 1 inch to give that powerful core look.

Im talking solid muscle waist here not fats.

You look more aesthetic and your chest and shoulders will look bigger with a tiny waist. Girls will like the tiny waist more. Its a more attractive look. Girls I used to work with used to comment on it, and it would get back to me, whenever I'm leaner and my waist is 32" or smaller. Trust me on this. Also, if you plan on competing (in bodybuilding), a smaller waist is always better.

holy crap! my waist is over 40 inches now! lol

my midsection gets a little leaner every week now that i've been doing HIIT but i've just started adding good mornings and ab work in so that keeps the waist decent-sized, im sure

If you are saying what I think you are than the size of your pelvic bone and hip sort of control that, I cant think of any muscle to work that would make that wider.

The only reason it is necessary to bulk up the waist is if you are interested in building extra stabilizing support for the squat and deadlift.

Really focus on the heavy compound movements. . the growth of the waist is determined by genetics.

I get a lot of shit for having a thick waist. I'm not big by any means but since I incorporated squats and deads more often, especially deads, it grew. I had to go to military clothing to get a new set of trousers. I had to get 35's. They make you feel fat by saying shit about wearing 35's especially when I was issued 31's in bootcamp.

I am a male that is 28 and 140 pounds =/ My waist is probably 20-30 inches. Its pathetic lol. I exercise often and am ripped up but it looks rediculous with such a small waist. I also have an extremely fast metabolism... STILL. I have struggled with this forever. I see that many ppl are saying squats and deadlifts... are there any more suggestions?

Hey no offense BBF, I know how popular having a small waist is. But I just wanna get a wider waist anyways.

I have a small waist too (29) and there is nothing attractive about a tiny waist with ripped muscles everywhere on a grown man (besides competition). I feel like I have the body of a 16 year old boy lol. So I completely understand where you are coming from. I get tired of being told Im skinny. Everything is about losing weight but there is no good advice for fast metabolisms and ppl actually trying to GAIN a few inches in their waistline.

A lot of it is pelvic bone width... You can only alter it so much. Squats and deadlifts will add muscle, which adds width, so an inch or two around the waist you can definitely do... but I wouldnt guess much more. I have the opposite problem... wide shoulders (thank God) and a wide waist, with naturally thick obliques... so when I go over 12% bf those big obliques' definition gets covered up and all of a sudden look like fat rolls on my side (at least when I look in the mirror! haha), and even when the fat is gone I "widen out" between my ribcage and hips, with the bottom of my ribcage and hips being the narrowest points on my body, and muscle wrapping around my side at the pelvic wings. Id rather have a narrow waist... but I guess the grass is always greener! haha
