How do I configure my Quick Launch tool bar for XP?

Oh to the contrary. XP is leaps and bound bettter than anything Windows has done. It's way more efficient and stable then the 9x crap ever was. You just have to get the feel for it. Hopefully you have the professional version as that is better than the home.

Anyway.
Go to start, hit run and enter "MSCONFIG". click ok. When the system utility comes up. Go to the start up tap and unclick everything you don't absolutely need. And that mostly everything that's there. You need to keep RUNDLL and the printray if you want to print. I keep my ctfmon and DSL modem related items checked and that's it. I don't need anything else launching when I start up. If I want anything else to start I will launch is manually. Having too much stuff launch slows start up and just makes your system run slower.

hmm, configuring it? you mean turning it on and off? or putting stuff in it?
you can just drag and drop shit on there and it will leave a shortcut. also there is a folder for it somewhere, likely in your documents and settings shit.

if you right click on the toolbar, it is likely in that menu system somewhere - I'm sitting on a win2k machine right now or I'd go and look.

I have to currently right click and choose TOOL BARS and then check QUICK LAUNCH each time I start my PC.

Also, on my QUICK LAUNCH there is an AOL icon and an JUkeBox icon that I do not use (disabled them already) and I want to get rid of them.

There is NOT a short cut to desktop either, I need that.

In mine - again, I'm not sitting on an XP system right now to get it all just right... but in mine, I just right click on the toolbar if it isn't there, and then find the menu option that turns it on.
if it is there, then I can right click on it and get properties to do shit with it - or I can right click on icons to get a menu to delete them.

one thing is that I think it will "forget" the settings if the computer powers off without being shut down.
so say I setup my quickbar and I love it - and then I kick the cord out from my computer, when it comes back up, it will be unhappy and not remember those settings.
whereas if I go to the start menu and then shut it down, then it works just fine.

but since I don't have it in front of me, I can't tell you all the menus and what they say and such, can only tell you what I would expect to see.

I was just FORCED to quit using N/T by my company.. I was FORCED to use XP.

I began to decrease my workload by 1/2.. telling them that N/T was soo much better it made me work faster.

I believe it brutha. XP is sucking ass.

Happy - I can do THAT with 98/NT/2000. No prob, but XP has different menus and shit.

Is there a website for XP tuning? I tried blackviper's and it is too technical for what I want.

You can set XP to use the same menus that you are used to in 2000. Im on 2000 here at work but my XP at home is set with Windows classic, which is easier to deal with. I think you just right click on the taskbar and choose windows classic.. I think you also need to do this in the control panel as well..

XP is pretty good. Im nowhere as adept in XP as with NT and 2000, but it gets the job done, and seems quite a bit quicker than 2000.

right click on the quick launch icon you want to kill. find "cut" and choose it. a quick launch is just a shortcut that is in a specific location (i believe it is under the internet explore application data)

Didn't work. Sorry.

Try browsing through and finding this folder: (If your OS is on the C:)

C:\Documents and Settings\*AnalAssPlorer*\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

You can replace *AnalAssPlorer* with whatever your ID is and put this entire string into the run command. That should bring up your quick launch toolbar.
