How did Douchaine die?

many people blame his death on reckless use of various items. However, he was born with a medical condition, so the jury is out on what caused his death.

Don't know if he was HIV positive or not, wouldn't shock me. I know at least 3 guys who have AIDS from sharing needles while doing AS back in the early 80's.

I guess no matter how you look at it taking an injection of test in the ass can kill you!!

What's the first sign of AIDS? A sever pounding in the rectum!

OK. Sorry, It's a joke! I hate that anyone has this terrible disease.

i thought he had kidney problems

he didn't abuse on roids. His health was not optimum (so i heard). Didn't know hew as HIV positive. You don't have to be gay go get aids.

He didn't have Aids, and there was no suspicion that his death was anything other than a problem he had since he was born with his kidneys. Polycystic kidney disease, a genetic defect that often leads to kidney failure. He was 47 and by all accounts, including both the police and coroner's report, Dan died of natural causes.

Geez, you guys are worse than a bunch of 13 year old girls with all your gossiping.

come on boys heads out of ours arses. the guy was a human lab rat, took everything and anything to improve our knowledge of roids and other drugs. took huge doses when no one on the planet had a clue what the implications were.
so now, just like almost every other athlete or big name in this sport of ours who dies in his 30/40's, the old 'he had congenital dodgy bollox syndrome.' 'the corner said his death had nothing to do with roids'.

i ask u does body building as a sport at the top level only attract the terminally ill?

lyna, lol. You crack me up. You actually believe that Ben Johnson only took baby doses of winny because 'someone' said that's what he took. And yet you disbelieve that Duchaine had an illness that he has talked about for years and years. And that it was actually pretty damn impressive that he was alive for as long as he was with his illness.

IGNORANT!!!!!

This guy was a legend, and icon. How can you people sit here and bash him? Let the man rest in peace.

He didn't have AIDS!

He didn't die due to steroid use!

The man had a problem with his kidneys that was inherited genetically. What is wrong with you people? You really shouldn't speak on something unless you have some knowledge to back it up. Dont assume anything, you sound like assholes!! Also, never "speculate", that also makes you sound ignorant!!

"Learn"... That's what the Legend did... He learned for all of us ... and then he passed his knowledge onto us so we could advance ourselves, our bodies, and all of the modern day sports that involve AS...

Honor this man in his passing, and pay him his rightfully earned respect. He is truly a man that stood up for what he believed in no matter what the status quo said!! That's more than all of you will ever do.

Get the facts straight!

Genetic Freak

In memory of the late Dan Duchaine, I will post my favorite quote of his:

'Finalize the felony.' in referring to the act of injecting anabolics. He had such a unique delivery style, and could turn a phrase almost as well as Mark Twain.

The entire little underworld that we are in right now miss him, whether you know it or not.

exactly

Did it ever dawn on anyone that despite his kidney problems, he may have lived longer had he not experimented with all these different compounds that made things even worse for his kidneys (AS and numerous other chemicals). He was one of the first to try numerous substances....Nubain, PGF2a, etc.

Gosh, I didn't mean to cause such a stir. But I do agree with AJC, a lot of AAS and other compounds are hard on the kidneys, so obviously, if he had a genetic defect, the drug use could aggravate it.

What gets me is he didn't even look like he lifted weights.

There are tons guys way bigger than him who never lifted a weight in their life.

Weird.

I always wondered why the "guru" who took massive doses never was really big, I did a websearch on him a few months ago found a pic of him riding a bike in an ad shortly before he died. He had some bike he made he was marketing to sell it in Cali, he made this prototype bike where you sit down when you ride, its weird they they have that site up I seen the bike was no longer available to buy since he died they just quit making it, if I can find it I will attach it

quote:"get rida that ugly fucking picture man"

i will second that;

As for Duchaine i think everyone respected (and still respect him).
Besides he was a guru when AS where concerned.
One of his statements "Winstrol is a waste" (or something like that, or was it "Winstrol is stronly overated".
And we still all use Winstrol. So it's a mather of opinion i guess.

For the record i read it in a magazine.....now wether its true or not after all this..makes me wondering why something like that was printed......RADAR

actually he was really pretty big and cut at one point - I've seen many pics of him where he was way bigger than most of the guys on this board.

later in his life he was on the dialysis machine and generally fighting for his life - that disease will get you around that age regardless or whether you were doing drugs or not - there have been many arguements made that his drug use helped him.

there was a famous running advocate Jim Fixx that died of a heart attack in his 40's I think while he was out running. was it the running that killed him? indirectly - but it was his congential heart condition that he ignored symptoms of - again, with that, the doctors sai the runnign likely helped him live many years beyond what he should have....

this whole thread is a fantastic reminder of the fact that so many people on this board are either high school students without a clue, or just dudes with their heads up their asses... come on people, read up before you go about nonsense (none of the symptoms he had were indicative of what an AIDS patient goes through).

HAPPY SCRAPPY,YOU SAID IT BROTHER WE SHOULD ALL
GIVE HIM SOME GODDAMM RESPECT!!!!! AFTER ALL AS
ONE OF THE FIRST TRUE (GURUS) WE OWE HIM ALOT!!!

Daniel Duchaine was a pioneer and in my books he was the best.
Why speculate about his death, it doesnt matter......and you dont have to be gay to get HIV orAIDS....

Who said natural causes....

Natural Causes must be some bad shit. I think it kills more people than cancer and heart disease combined.

Maybe someone needs to get some funding from the government and do some research on it.

Well put Nat, Dan was and will always be the man. Right or wrong, he was never one to mince words.
