How Cute is My Husband on Injectible Test!!!

musclemom

I Told You So ...
EF VIP
This is so cute I have to share, seriously.

My husband just didn't do well on transdermal test. cream. His doc put him on every two week injectible test but he was crashing too hard in the second week, so the doctor was talking about inserting pellets. We did some reading (finding the best info right here in this very forum), and hubby didn't really care for what he read about the pellets, so he decided to face his fears and go with the once a week injectible test. His doctor taught him how to do his own glute injection yesterday.

Now the thing is, my husband has had a mild needle phobia his entire life, but the HRT makes him feel "more better" than the fear scares him. If he said "Honey, I shot myself in the ass with a needle!!!" once yesterday, he must have said it five times!!! I'm actually proud of him; I know that sounds silly, but it was a big step for him and seeing how much happier he is since getting his levels up to where they finally should be is such a joy! Actually, his levels are in the 1300s (he's 53), the man's got more wood than a lumbar-yard :lmao:

It's amazing the difference it's made in his mental outlook!!! I'll never understand why doctors don't check hormone levels (in both men and women) before they even consider prescribing antidepressants! This is the absolute truth: One year ago, he was so bleak that his GP had written him a prescription for Lexapro. If it wasn't for the things I learned on EF, which got me to ask him to get his hormones checked before he went on more drugs, he would have started taking antidepressants :worried:

That is a great story. Maybe you can help me out a bit. I'm already on Lexapro because I don't think my doctor cares as much as he should. I told him about my lethargy. I asked him about my hormones to no avail. Did your husband see a specialist? What exactly did they test on him? blood levels for?

Thanks in advance
Tony

My husband is seeing a doctor who branched out and studied life extension/andropause. He asked his GP to test his levels and then asked for a copy of the results. His doctor had NO problem with his levels, but we could clearly see everything, while "within the limits," was right on the line of low.

GPs are trained to think a certain way. They look at endocrine levels like blood lipids or sodium and that doesn't really work for hormones. That's why you really should go to a doctor who specializes in hormones, an endocrinologist, or a physician who learned about andropause.

My husband had a full hormone and thyroid panel run by his GP then the andropause doctor ran an even more comprehensive endocrine panel.

It's important that you get the results for yourself. Like I said, a GP will look at a borderline low free test. and not think twice about it and an andropause specialist will look at that and go "That's no good you must really be dragging."

doc's first response to everything these days is a pill for depression, don't get me wrong i know that depression is real I've dealt with it a few times. But when i am on my self prescribed HRT which is a low dose of test enanthate 100mg per week on mon yeah i shot myself in the ass with a needle this morning and hcg 250iu on thurs and saturday to keep my natty and balls blown up, i am O.K. If i go off completely i suffer from mild depression and instead of dealing with it and seeing if it will go away on it's own i jump on the wellbutrin!

Great!!
So glad. IMO test is way way better than anti-Dep. So much more benifit.
Doesnt CHANGE your personality like the Anti-D can

good to hear you're getting taken care of MM......but I thought you were adverse to the all night marathon poundings?? If he's in the 1300's he's got to be waking you up 2-3 times a night.....LMAO

as for the point about how doctors diagnose things, it's ridiculous.......but it's our society......it feeds on keeping us ill in some form or another. Our system would rather have your husband feeling like shit so he can be prescribed enough pills to keep him busy for 12 out of the 24 hours a day.......but stabilise someone's hormones is out of the question because than so many other ailments go away that can have something prescribed for.

By the way, you and your husband should look into GH replacement.......IMO that's actually more important than test. Test injections are fine, but if you're not going to be on it for the rest of your life, you're going back to the way you were. His natural test deficiency is probably more related to his GH drop.........GH is the master hormone and regulates all others.

MM, we talked about this a while ago and with your help he has gone right down the correct path. Think how smart and experienced he will be as he gets older, and what a continued pleasure he will be to have around.

Think about how many men and women are given anti-depressants as they hit "pause" instead of hormones based on the results of a complete blood testing.

Good point about human growth hormone. It goes hand in hand with test for both men and women. I get mine from my Dr.

Too bad the topical didn't work out. And the pellets are awful. Make sure he is using the finest guage and shortest needle his brand and type of test will allow. When I do test p, which is my injectable choice, I can get down to a 25 g, 1".

When I do a cycle and mix in some nandro, I have to use 23 g. I find 1 1/2'' to be way deep, so I'm careful going in.

The glute muscle runs from the waist down to the hams, so he can't miss. When he sits down, it actually bulges out to the side. Just alternate left/right. I always wipe with alcohol and take a shower after, letting the warm water beat on the injection site for a few minutes. Zero problems.

You helped him a lot!! :verygood:

MM, when you say your husband didn't do well on the cream, was it that his levels didn't improve? How long was he on the cream before switching?

I just saw an endo this morning for the first time... my natty test levels have always been low, so I'm about to take the plunge... having more bloodwork tomorrow and then we see if it's TRT or clomid, etc. Hopefully the former, not the latter. The doctor mentioned if I go onto TRT, it'd be the gel form. Everything I've heard about the gel is not promising, so hopefully I can convince him to put me on injectable.
