good post myplunkey, now how can one possibly combact hair loss from winny or any other AAS.
Well... this is my opinion on hair (but i'm still learning myself):
1) Rogaine. Some guys swear by it... I personally am holding-off for now. From what I understand, this product encourages a damaged follacle to produce a better hair and to keep that hair in the active growth phase longer. That's great for a guy who's hair-loss has stabilized and wants some back... What scares me about Rogaine though is that the underlying follacle may still be getting damaged. You hear too many stories about guys who got good hair gains for 2-3 years from Rogaine, then started losing hair, then figured it stopped working and discontinued the product. Guess what happens when you discontinue? Those weaker hairs fall out.
Also... for telogen effluvium sufferers. Rogaine may help you a lot. Because it encourages hair to stay in the growth phase longer and encourages hair to rest for a shorter period of time, it may help mitigate some of the instantanous losses that occur.
2) Finastride / Deutastride (mispelled, I know) -- these are systemic AR5 blockers. Testosterone can be converted to DHT which in turn attacks the follacle. These drugs block the enzyme that does the conversion, so you get less DHT. Finastride is effective at 1.0-1.25 mg's / day for hairloss and is used around 5 mg's/day for prostate patients. Note that saw palmetto has a similar AR5 blocking effect, but don't kid yourself -- Finstride >> Saw Palmetto even if you downed the entire bottle! I don't know much about Deutastride (spelling), but instead of blocking 60-something percent of the DHT conversion, this newer drug supposidly blocks 90-something percent.
On a passing note... The reason deca (and tren too I think) are considered "hair-friendly" gear is because the same AR5 enzyme converts Nandralone to DHN. If you are taking an AR5 blocker guess what? Deca isn't hair-friendly anymore. Some swear this is a myth, but I think I experienced it first-hand myself. Lesson learned!
3) Topical spirolactane... this is my current favorate topical. Go to
www.wholesalehairproducts.com and email them about their 2% topical spiro. It's not listed on their site, but they carry it. Spiro doesn't go in your hair without a fight normally, but this stuff goes in great. Spiro can be slimey, chalky once dried, smelly, and forms something described as "a sack of dead skunks smell" when mixed with Rogaine.
So why do people like spiro? Well... its a very powerful anti-androgen. It's so powerful that as a male, if you take it orally it will screw you up BIGTIME. But in 2% to 5% concentrations, it's perfectly safe on the scalp. It competes with any androgen, not just DHT, so it can be used to combat the effects of a broad range of gear.
4) Nizoral shampoo. Mail order the 2% stuff... there is some 1% floating around too, but get 2% if you can. Google it -- you'll find it. I don't know how or why this "dandruff" shampoo works, but I think it's some kind of dht blocker as well as a cleanser for the follacle.
Sooo... my recommendation?
1) Finastride or Deutastride (mispelled) for sure if you have compounds that convert to DHT (i.e. Testosterone). Take 1-1.25 mg's/day. If you are taking deca or tren though, consider yourself warned. Some say it's no big deal, some say it's horrible. It's also a good measure to protect against your own natty-produced test even when off cycle.
2) Nizoral 2% shampoo -- no brainer. I shampoo at least 1x / day and leave the stuff in for 5 minutes.
3) Spiro @ 2% morning and evening when on cycle. Probably safe to go 1x /day when off
4) Rogaine... AFTER you know your hair has stabilized. Don't accidentally let it mask symptoms.
