I am working in Iraq right now and it is easy as hell. Sending stuff through the mail will get anything here. It has been about a year since I recieved some juice in the mail, but alcohol and drugs get shipped over here all the time.

You should be able to get stuff from Egypt and Iran at the local pharmacies....(heard that about 6mo. ago)

I used to work over there for a contractor, and I served during the invasion. Listen, anything you have mailed to your APO will go through US Post FIRST, then it will be mailed to you in-country. I recommend you follow the same precautions as getting it sent to you stateside. Also, DO NOT try to use Western Union via the phone. Iraq is marked for transactions. Use the Western Union at the PX. It is EXPENSIVE AS HELL; Even more expensive than here in the states, and they have those Filipino chicks at the counter who don't ask who you are sending it too or if you know them. If you work in Iraq, home brewing might be a hobby to consider.
homebrewing? Get extra filters. That was the dirtiest place I have even been to in my enitre life. I would blow my nose and al sorts of nasty stuff came out. And it constantly smelled like shit. There are alot of diseases over there that are not even in the U.S. I would use extreme caution doing that. Get an air filter for your hooch because there is still alot of dust in the air even inside. Like an Ionic breeze or something.
Are you in the military or are you a civilian contractor? If you are a civilian then I say go for it, if you are in the military....I wouldnt risk it. I used to work legal administration in the Marine Corps and even though most illegal things sent in the mail get through, if you are the one to get caught....you are screwed.
Is it true you can even get alcohol over there? I doubt you would be able to find anabolics.. I heard the same thing as Mr.X, egypt you shouldnt have a problem..
We had guys get nailed for hash buying it from the third country nationals but that was because someone ratted them out for walking around chink eyed. they can get almost anything on the black market. The hash was being sold right in the laundry drop off and the tv room building. I could saw alot of guys on aas over there. Make sure your drinking your water. It is seriously life or death if your on aas over there. If you dont go ouside the wire no worries. Infantry leads the Way!! One more thing if your out on patrol and you stop in on of the pharmacies while your doing a search look at the drugs. They self medicate over there. Hmmm.

thanks bros. i am going as a private contractor, awg logistics. alot of good ideas. i have a good foreign source but kinda high. they have always been very reliable and discreet. i just don't know what to expect, never been out of the country. and especially with all we hear about iraq. homebrewing has always sounded interesting but i have never tried it. all the problems i have heard from some about customs and not knowing a good source for powders has always stopped me. and i don't know what my living conditions will be like. i don't want my shit everywhere if i got a roommate. i like your post freakusmc. cheap and easy on whatever you want! that's what i want to hear!

Alcohol is probably one of the easiest things to get over here. Especially if you get to go outside the wire. Also it depends on who you work for. Some companies do not fall under General Order 1. This allows them to have alcohol. If you use the PO to send anything out of Iraq you will get thoroughly searched, so don't try to send anything home. Inbound mail though you should'nt have a problem. We had 2 ounces of the sticky come through on DHL. Got here in about 3 days. All of it was gone in a week. You can get hash from the Iraqis fairly easy. If you don't get to go outside the wire, I would recommend using the APO. You can also get with the private security guys. They always have plenty of alcohol and have all the parties. They do not fall under General Order 1. You have to be real cool with them, because not very many get to go into their compounds. You will run into them at the gym and will be able to spot them out. I would talk to them for a few weeks and get to know them before asking any questions. Hope this is helpful to you.
oh by the way the alcohol thing applies to many muslim countries but Iraq is like the wild west when it comes to rules. Alot of the muslim rules are a facade and only certain people follow them. I would ask an interprator once you befriend him if your around them. They will sell you anything and some are approved to have little shops on the bases. The black market is huge because that is their market. They will sell you anything Shit they would sell you WMD if you give them American money. The value of a dollar is like one dollar for every 10,000 of theirs last I checked.

thanks again. I will be with a private contractor and my position will be inside the compound. They must be under rule #1 because they are not supposed to have alcohol. as far a terp, I really don't know. I am not sure how much I will get to talk to one because I won't have to leave the compound much. The first compound I am going to will be in abu graib. It is small, about 60 people. I can transfer to the lmcc(international zone) after about two weeks if I wish. My boys tell me there is not much else to do but workout. which is fine with me as long as i can get the gear.
There are some bad mamma jamas in there...Your a really really bad dude if your in abu...it all murderers who didnt get whacked when they should have been. Good luck finding stuff there though. Its mostly MP's when I was there so basically its going to be like a police precinct. They are all cops. Military cops. Mp's can be big assholes too. I would try to get on another base. Heckle a stinky for me will ya?
Ok I just got home from Iraq in September and my question is why in thee hell would you even consider these bastids who been trying to kill us anyway they can for 4 years? I mean sure some dumb ass Haji will say he can get you shyt but would you really wanna inject it? Then explain to the higher-ups in the TMC why you have a cyst on ya ass? Then explain to your chain of command how and why you got it? Not worth it! Wait til you come home like I did.

You and snowy both have a good point. Your right about not trusting them. I think I might just stick with my international man until ofr if I find a trusted deal. Thanks for your help guys.
