I'm probably the only female member that agrees with most of that. I don't know if that is a good or bad thing (I was raised by old school mother and grandmother and a really old school dad).

i know how that is... thats EXACTLY how it worked with my parents. I don't really agree with a lot of it, I'm just being an ass for fun. A wife knows her place... which is right beside the husband, not behind.

I was discussing marriage and other castrations with some friends(girls) the other day.

They always ask me why i have no desire to get married at all.

I asked them why should a man get married now a days??

Women don't cook anymore
Women dont' clean anymore.
Women don't want to work anymore.
Women want to spend every dime you make, then run you into debt.
Women view sex as a bargining tool.

Women view marriage as a lifelong(or until they get there fill and decide to go be a "strong independent woman" ) all expensives paid vacation.

Then I ask them "What do I really even need a woman for?"

I find most of that absolutely laughable.

"You have no right to question him." Uhhhhhhhh, yeah right....

Don't complain if he stays out all night.... YEAH!! {sarcasm intended}

:p a good wife is full of trust and will lick your under region from top to bottem and smile big even when you forget to wipe

That's an unfortunately jaded view, one which I had adopted for most of my life thus far. Well, ok, it is true for a lot of women, it seems.... but every now and then you find some with some responsibility and values. They aren't easy to find, but if you do, latch on and don't let go.

As for why you need a woman.... what's really the point of your life? Money? Cars? Your hobby? As pessimistic as it may sound, we are all just a drop of water in the ocean. You can make a ripple, but for each there millions more. I'm not saying sex is life at all (although for some people it may be). I'm talking about that relationship that you develop with that one special person. Even if its just a simple friendship, that's what life is about. You are going to die sooner or later. You aren't going to carry your belongings or your grandkids into whatever you consider to be the afterlife. Its the relationships you develop with people, and IMHO, the one you develop with your significant other that is most important.

Ok, I'll get off my soap box now ;)

Ahhhhh good old time ;)

Everyone has to remember that this article was written in 1955... Back then women didn’t work... Unfortunately most families now have to have BOTH parents working to survive. Even then sometimes it is a struggle. So to expect your wife to do all those things is stupid because she is working just as hard as you... But in those days. The man brought home the money and the wife took care of the children, and the household. Which I believe is a fare. And actually for our children’s sake I believe this is better then going to daycare for 8-10 hours a day.

So if I was to have children, personally this is exactly what I would want... Otherwise I won’t have children because two full time careers’ is enough for a marriage to handle. People now take marriage WAY to lightly!! You can expect to get anything out of it if you don’t put any effort into it. Women should want to do those things for her husband, just like her husband should want to do things for her. TWO-WAY street!! It is suppose to be a partnership between two people, to get through life with your best friend, which you know you can rely on.

I believe most people just settle today. They just get married because they are lonely and they don’t marry the person they really want. So if you really don’t like that person all that much why would you go that extra mile to make them happy? So they get married, get sick of each other, and get divorced… Unfortunately that is what marriage has become now…

If I am to get married then I will have to find the perfect fit for me, be completely in love, and know deep in my heart that person feels the same for me. Otherwise what is the point? To walk around in life miserable because I have to go home and clean up some jerk’s shit, that I can’t stand. HELL NO!! I enjoy my own company way to much to do that… So if my “PERFECT” mate doesn’t exist then, my career and close friendships will be the most important thing to me. But if I am lucky enough to find (I think I have… but we will see) that perfect mate for me then “OUR” needs, wants, desires are the most important things in my life….

I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but I also believe that women are useful in the workplace. Its fine if she wants to be a full time mom, but women are just as talented as men, and can do just as much good work as we can. Its up to what is good for the family, and if it can be supported.

As for the split of responsibilities back in the 50s, I'm not arguing the fairness... I just believe that husband and wife should BOTH make the important decisions. The wife shouldn't be forced to sit back and simply accept whatever he tells her. That's simply abuse. Yes, there are areas where it is best to have one person in control, but not all of them. (Why have 2 people do one person's job?) Total subservience has no place in marriage. EVER. (notice the "total") Like I said before, the man and woman are equal.

I believe women are very useful in the workplace and very much needed!! but I also believe that children need there mothers around... so there is a fine line there... during the development stage (until school) I believe the wife should be home!! but after that or before then work... But don't expect her to do all those things if she is also working... But if the man works and the wife stays home then she should take care of the house... So I totally agree with it being fare.. Not sure if you really read what I wrote... marriage is a PARTNERSHIP!! that is the only way it can work...

Oh I did read :p Indeed it is a partnership. You are right, though, that SOMEONE that you want to be watching your kids is doing it... which would be preferably one or both of the parents. It is a more controlled environment, and you can instill some important values into your child that way. Not that its impossible otherwise... but there are always people that may not care for your child the way you want when they watch them.

It is a difficult balance to maintain; spending time with your family, and at the same time providing for them. That's why you work together. That's the only way it can work? That's the only way I would WANT it to work.

If I ever became a stay at home wife (which will never happen) I would have no problem doing most of the things on that list. If both spouses work then that list won't work.

And I do know my place... The Queen gets to sit where ever she wants. ;)

Dee......I'm not arguing that you "should" be a stay at home wifey...but I do know for a fact that you can be tamed.

From one ex-soldier to another.......you CAN be tamed.

Abstinence until marriage is horrible? How so? I mean, I'm sure sex is great, but good god if you can't keep your pants up then you need a little counseling....

Besides, too many STDs going around these days, and I don't want to "accidentally" end up having to pay child support for a kid that I never wanted in the first place...

The whole bargaining tool thing is easily seen outside of marriage.... that's why it doesn't fly with me. As for in the marriage, well I wouldn't know about that :coffee:

They can all be tamed, you just need to give them plenty of snacks and pats on the head.

I like fresh veggies to balance out the rice and flank steak......I guess I never considered roasted veggies.

The mustard base has melted butter and garlic in it.....

It really boosts the flank steak to a whole 'nother level!!!

It's almost as good as sex......
