Hospitalized

Hey Guys,
Happy New Year to everyone! I was just released from the hospital yesterday after one full week! I have never been hospitalized before. I was diagnosed with viral Meningitis. I had high fever, chills, severe headache, and pain running from the back of my neck all the way to my lower back. This was a real pain in the butt! I was given massive amounts of antibiotics and antiviral medication. I'm very frustraded because i'm having a hard time walking because of the meninges inflamation.
I had to spend New Year's at the hospital! It was depressing and frustrating. What a way to start the new year. The worst thing is that I won't be able to get back to my workouts for a while. Has anyone had this condition? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your shitty New Year. Meningitis is serious shit. A Teacher I know didn't show up for work and the school couldn't get her on the phone so they sent someone to check on her and found her in an incoherent fever with meningitis.

Hope you have a speedy recovery.

sorry to hear that bro but at least your alright now. I know it will drive us serious lifters nuts to be outta the gym. But it will be better in the long run to take a break to fully recover.

just out of the hospital the other day with the same thing. only it wasnt me it was my 1yro wee boy. bad times it was too. especially wen they were trying to inject him and he was petrified, reaching out for me and his mum squealing. knowing there was nothing could be done like. it wasnt a matter of choice. thankfully hes back at home making a full recovery.

hope ur keeping well now bro and make a full recovery urself. ull be glad to get back to the gym!

1st prority is to get better and the rest will follow..Sucks that you had to start the new year like that but it doesnt matter how you start the year its how you finish that counts baby..so hope u feel better bro.

Thanks for your responses! Yeah, I'm still in pain! The meninges that surround my brain hurts the most, especially when I sit and type. I won't go back to work until Monday, January 14. The treatment was kinda painful, especially that Lumbar procedure where they take a sample of your spinal fluid with a needle...ouch! Plus you have to have the IV for the whole stay which can be painful too.
For a one year old, as one of you described above, can be almost a traumatic experience....heck, it was almost traumatic for me too! It will be a while until I go back to the gym. Meningitis is kinda of serious, hopefully, I won't get it again. Thanks again and good luck to all of you!
