horrible, killahbee howd u hurt ur back

Sub-Zero

High End Bro
Platinum
i did the dumbes thting i swore i wouldnt do....hurt my back deadlifitng when form gave out... :worried:

i went to the dr and its just muscle pulled, and the dr is completely contradicting himself.

hes saying to be active and stretch but not use my back muscles for 3-4 weeks, and after 2 weeks i can do exersise that have nothing to do with the back.

but if im feeling up to it why the hell wouldn ti be able to bench, do dips, and pullups and that stuff!? its fucking rediculous, and my parents are of course being annoying about it and listening to the dr....i know 2 weeks doesnt seem like a big deal, but its like that video game time crisis, cause wrestling season starts soon, and the 2 week loss in strength will be huge when compiled with all the cardio and how much im already gunna lose during the season, its like i have to fucking start lifting from square zero next spring, and all my work for 1 and a half years is for nothing,

of course squatting and deadlifting would be stupid at this point and i need to reintrodce those slowly and with low weight, but the other stuff that doesnt involve lowback?

what do you guys think? not the "protect your ass from getting sued" bs like the doctor says, what would you guys do in my situation- should i find a way to sneak into the gym like maybe starting next week (so a week before the dr said to) and do the stuff like bench, pullups, dips, or just stay out the 2 weeks,

im really depressed guys, thanks for reading ifu did,

clifnotes: fuck!!!!!

pm me little man.

what weight were you pulling when you did your back? were you wearing a belt?

im paranoid about the same thing...ive onle done deads, what...12 times so far, and im pushing it fairly hard (up to doing 400 for a few reps and 420 as a max), and i tend to arch a tiny bit on the last rep...sharing is caring :)

he wasn't using a belt.
goldendee- when you deadlift, keep your back as neutral as possible the entire time. meaning that whatever position your back is when you're just standing up straight... keep it that way through the entire deadlift.

lol shit

it seems my form needs a little work then :worried:

cheers stilletto :)

1. You use your back form almost every exercise to stabilize.
2. A month off will not screw you over that bad. I went off for 4 months and gained it back in weeks.
3. How much were you deadlifting? What muscle was it? Erector spinae?

I can deadlift more than you.

such as... how much?

Bahahaha! I was just busting your 'balls' but I haven't maxed since I was 17. I got 405 then. Not sure how much I can get now really. Didn't mean to come off as abrasive.

the weight really wasn't important.
you don't know his size, or his age or his goals.
but really, what does it matter?

Yes, form is more important obviously. He is 17. I know he's about 180. He wants to become a jacked monster. First form is important, then weight. Most have it the other way around.

loL!!! dickheads!!

Sublime ZM: during deadlifts
TPTrash0001: you have to stop trying to lift 100 lbs;-)

If it was as much as you said, that's impressive young one. Go easy for a few weeks. Two or three weeks won't kill you as much as you think.

i believe sublime knows his form and the importance of it.

LOL..before you sneak back into the gym, you have to crawl out of bed :)

And if you can't crawl or walk.. then you'll be on the sidelines for a few weeks thinking about us big boys;)

See why I don't do deadlifts?

Your back is the drive train for you whole body. do you have a natural arch in your back when you bench? does your lower back stablize you when you do over head presses or curls? hell just try heavy triceps pushdowns to see how much the lower back helps out.

but it is your body, ruin it if you want.

That's why I don't max. Like I said earlier, your back is used to stablilize in every exercise, even running.

yo, that sucks, junior. I hurt my back squatting. I have actually deadlifted a few times since then (stupidly) and it didnt bother me. but mine is a bit more serious. don't fuck around with your back dude. seriously. back off (pun intended) and listen to your doctor. stretch and do some core work

thanks for ur input killah, hows ur rehab/recovering coming in? i know u had a journal up i guess i havnt looked at it in a while are u keeping it up to date?

i think now that the overal aura of pain and completely destruction is settling down its more in my left glut to erector than my right side

it's going well. just got done with 3 days of coast-to-coast flights and lots of running around working events so the back is jacked up right now. but I am on my way,. starting to train a little bit again. cortisone shots helped a ton.

my back has never actually been the area that hurt, it was always my left glute. the pain/discomfort has movd around over the last few months, but I was having muscle spasms over there and just general muscle issues in that area from my body responding to the extruding disc. I had my PT do some manual really deep massage work in the area and it helped a lot. I also lay sideways on a tennis ball and roll over that area. painful but helpful. and lots of cardio to keep warm and get the muscles moving
