i just read a reply to a post where someone said you should not heat hormones because they will denature. this is so wrong it is crazy. come on people use your heads. steroid hormones are all derived from cholesterol, which is a fat (lipid). they are not proteins. insulin, igf, and gh are protein hormones, not steroids! you can heat the shit out of steroids to the temps of hell and nothing will happen. just don't burn them. you can heat them all the way up to their melting points with no problem.

trust me....i have a b.s. in biochemistry from a very elite university...i know this to be a fact.

It amazes me how many times I read that shit, sometimes from people who claim to have an extensive chem background.

when i he said denature i think he meant about changing the molecule comp.
if you heat fats to very hot heats they start releasing hydrogen bonds, changing the molecule...but these are very hot heats and sticking your vile of test in boiling water isnt going to harm it

"Denature" has a very specific meaning. Simplest example that comes to mind is cooking egg white. Point being that if you're not dealing with proteins, "denature" is not the right word.

also, you can't really compare polyunsaturated fatty acid fats (attached to a glycerol) with an esterified steroid (that's esterified with an saturated faty acid).

I believe steroid molecule is a hellova lot more stable then a pussy-omega-3/6 acid :P

Also, if I brewed some, I would mix it in a stable oil (like palm oil) so you can be really sure It's safe. I'd just bake the ampules at 200 degrees Celsius for half an hour and not even the Clostridium spores would survive that (It's the most thermoresistant of the common bacteria).
