Honesty and Integrity

I have been listening to the nonsense being spinned by the CBS "News" organization and I'm dumbfounded.

They now appear to acknowledge that the documents are forged, but have taken up the line that the content is genuine, and needs to be addressed by the Bush administration.

Don't make this thread about politics.

Is anyone else disgusted by this Orwellian double speak. Is it really acceptable to claim we should be discussing the authenticity of anything regarding admittedly forged documents?

Doesn't anyone ever just say "I fucked up, sorry" without trying to spin a line to CTA

No, no one does anymore. It's always easier to blame someone else for their troubles and failures.

I wouldn't expect to find those attributes from network news

I'm not entirely sure which documents you are referring to but certainly a forged document can raise a valid question, can't it?

Btw Orwell never mentioned such a concept as double speak. There was doublethink which is the act of consciously fooling yourself to believe what the state wants you to. consciously being the stressed word in the sentence.

Newspeak was the language the State was having developed that would be minimized and designed in such a way that rebellious thoughts could not be properly worded and therefor not properly thought.

seriously.... when will people finally realize that news is bullshit.

not one paper or the other.... not one news station and not the other.

and every ounce in awhile a station/paper get caught in a lie. and the other papers/channels dive in and make a huge story of it. like, look at this station/paper they have no honesty and integrity....

wake up!

our news is no better then the bullshit news everywhere eles

like when the iraqi news said they were winning the war .. and we would be repelled in days

WAKE UP

What is astounding to me is the level of contempt they exhibit for the viewing public.

Bile. Sad but true

is this really a function of time or were you more blind to it before

I know exactly what you mean. I mean c'mon they're fake. On the same note, just say that you weren't in there for WMD and you don't mind bankrupting the country...jesus...just tell the truth...

Ender

Start a thread if you wish to rehash the entire wmd debate.

Nope, I got no issues. I would prefer them (all of them) to come out and say that we lied when we said that the document were fake or when we said that we didn't know who release information about that CIA spy.

If you support one, then can you really be surprised when another one does it?

Is there such a thing as unbiased news anyway?
The problem with news comes when the group(s) providing it has an agenda. Naturally this group will provide a skewed view of things even if they are providing news without opinion or conjecture simply by emphasizing things that agree with their agenda/views. Objective news is a joke.

More than just duped

(1) He ignored his own experts who pointed out their were substantive reasons the documents might not be credible.

(2)He refused to allow them to conduct thorough examinations, and purposely avoided sending them documents promised to those experts which would have allowed a conclusive judgement.

(3)He willfully overlooked , although they were questioned by CBS news, and agreed to be interviewed, the statements of the son and widow of the man who allgedly wrote the documents. But he did include the statements of an staff secretary which conveniently supported his absurd explanation stated above. She even said they were fake, but represented that the deceased man in question may have said them (just obviously not in those forged documents).

the whitehouse did NOT say the information ON the documents was fake....they just said the documents MIGHT BE fake.....THATS THE TRUTH

oh that was me, nevermind.

The major news networks lost their honesty and integrity a LONG time ago. They're not interested in that. They're interested in producing the stories that will draw the most ratings so that their advertising charges can increase. It's a money driven enterprise.

Surpisingly it's not obvious to everyone. Some people remain glued to every word they hear on the new channels and do no critical evaluation of what's presented to them. :(
