Honda Prelude

New member
I was thinking of getting me a used prelude, like a 95 or something, something around 12000$. What do yall think of these cars? I'm wanting the vtec model, cause I heard there pretty quick. I'm thinking of fixing it up, turbo charger, and a few extras. Is this car considered really ricey? I really want something like a supra, but the insurance is killer.lol. So what do yall think? I can't stand seeing these civics all fixed up with the big exhausts and all, its not even a sports car! I think the prelude is a little more sporty and bigger for my lard ass.lol

The price of your insurance will vary on allot of factors. If your under 25 the insurance on a VTEC Prelude will be a little pricey. And if you get a 95 it'll probably have allot of miles on it (around 100k). It might cost you allot of $$ to fix it up, before putting a turbo on it you'll probably have to drop a new motor in it.

I would get a Daewoo Leganza. They are like the Ford Taurus' but a little bit sportier. You can get a used 2000 for under 10,000 at most places and they are nice cars.

12k for a car from 1995?

Do you mean 1200?

I WAS WONDERING THE SAME THING

ANYWAY, YOU MIGHT WANT TO GET THE NEW BODY STYLE. A 95 ISNT THE NEW STYLE I DONT THINK. MY EX HAD A 98 VTEC. INSURANCE WASNT ALL THAT BAD. SHE GOT IT WHEN SHE WAS 18 AND KEPT IT UNTIL THIS PAST DECEMBER WHEN SHE SOLD IT FOR 12K.

PERSONALLY, I WOULDNT BUY ONE BUT THEN AGAIN, I'M NOT INTO THE RICEY SHIT (AS FAR AS CARS GO). I NVR REALLY LIKED DRIVING IT ON LONG DISTANCES. NOT ALL THAT COMFORTABLE.

I thought preludes were pretty damn expensive even a 1995. But what do I know. Yeah I like the new body styles a little better than the older ones.I didn't realize I could get a 98 vtec for about 12k. So that's pretty cool. I would just get a mustang but you can't beat honda's for there reliability, and I am not really into American made cars. The ricer factor kind of sucks, but for what I am really looking for I just can't afford right now, or at least until I graduate college in about 3 years, and I don't think the prelude is a bad looking car. I'm 23 by the way so I'm not sure how the insurance will be. I'll just have to do some research. Here's a good question, does anyone know how much a 95-98 rx7 would cost? Probably alot more than a prelude and higher insurance, right?

yeah go for the 98 and over on the preludes for the newer style.

have you looked at eclipses the gt-s spyder, they are much less than preludes too. well at least the base models are. and there are more aftermarket parts too.

YOU CAN GET QUOTES ON THE INTERNET FOR INSURANCE. A FRIEND OF MINE HAD AN RX-7 AND IT WAS IN THE SHAP MORE THAN IT WAS ON THE ROAD.

YEAH, THE PRELUDE WILL BE VERY REALIABLE. THAT IS PROBABLY YOUR BEST CHOICE. GETS GOOD GAS MILEAGE ALSO. MY EX DIDNT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER WITH HER IN THE 4 YEARS SHE HAD IT.

Mazda stopped making RX-7's for the US in 95 or 96 I think. There's a US version comming out next year but there calling it RX-8 and it's gonna be like $30 or 40k.
