Homemade Weight Gainer?

Legion Kreinak2

New member
I hear, since I can't stomach all that food and extra calories, to try making my own homemade weight gainer.

Honey, olive oil, chocolate syrup, nuts, and other stuff people told me to put in, a banana and such, and then eat it. Why is honey and olive oil good? How many calories do they really have?

And, does this work? I'm still slightly skeptical about eating so much to gain mass, ya' know? I'm gonna do it, but I just want to make sure I don't get overly fat or any such thing.

You have to gain some fat to gain muscle, olive oil is a good fat read the labels the calories are on there, honey is an anti oxident and adds some cals.

Yah Supersize I know, but I don't see many of you guys on there and I know this bunch the best, and I know Jeremys had something going on with a weight gainer, and I know Louden mentioned one before, so wanted input from people I know can already give me... well, good input.

Anti-oxidant... which means what?

Anything else I can throw into that mix?

Antioxidant=type of molecule that neutralizes harmful compounds called free radicals that damage living cells, spoil food, and degrade materials...

Hey man ,net is full of valuable info and you can find a lot of useful info if you do your own research!

Yeah, but alot of things I find are either bullshit, or contradict what people say here. I find all sites about training (or used to, when I looked) which say to ALWAYS train at least 2x a week each bodypart, and to use realy high reps and low weight for cutting and the like.

How come people don't understand that it's diet? It's so simple... maybe we're just wrong. :p

You asked about antioxidant;therefeore , my answer was in regard to antioxidants . AS I said thre ie plenty of info regarding antioxidants.

As far as training many of us went thru trial and error till we found our own niche that works for each of us!

Couldn't have said it better, you have to find what works for you, some people can get away with tons of sets and exercises for themselves but you may not be able to. Trial and Error.

Toss in some ice cream, (get light if your concered with fat)
some eggs... drop them in hot water for like 10 seconds to steralize them.. eggs are the most complete protein you can get!
Milk
Go to your local gorcery store and pickup some of the dehydrated milk... you can cram a shit load of milk powder in and it will make it thicker too... I used to make protein shakes out of like 6 glasses of that shit and cram it all into one glass... makes it very thick...
You could also throw some oatmeal and flax seed oil in...

That ought to bump up the calories and shoot the protein levels even higher
have fun playin chef-boy-R-D

just eat lots of real food...

and inbetween that eat icecream, peanuts, milkshakes whatever

no sense in making some disgusting drink if you can just have a milkshake (icecream, whole milke, protein shake)

hit up the PB&J at night....forget about all that other stuff

except maybe flax oil...throw that in sometime if you want to

Hes trying to keep fat gain to a mininum, milk shakes and whole milk is not excatly the route to go if you want to stay as lean as possible while bulking. Hes only making the shake because he can't get enough calories in food.

What does the dry milk taste like? I got this nasty flavor protein powder and I am always looking for ways to make it taste better, I have 5lbs of it so I will have it for awhile.

The dehydrated milk powder takes exactly like milk when you add water...
I used to take like 6 servings of the powder, which is the equivilant of 6 cups of milk, and put it in a glass with a scoop of quick chocolate powder... then throw in 2 cups of real milk... wholy shit thats a lot of fuckin whey man... I think I used to slightly overdo it.. but the stuff is god damn cheap...

If you mix the chocolate powder in with lots of it, its thick like a milk shake.. yummm

If you want to make a semi-homemade weightgainer, go to supplementdirect and get a 10lb bucket of dextrose and a 10lb bucket of pure whey. For fats, I use a tablespoon of flaxoil. You can taylor the amounts of each to fit your own caloric intake. Figure to add atleast 500 to 1000 calories above basal to gain weight. Also try to get 250-300 grams protein from food and sups combined.

well post workout I usually have:

ice cream
milk
peanut butter
honey
chocolate syrup
a banana
sometimes some egg beaters
and whatever else I can find lying around the house

I don't know how much weight you will gain with it, but it sure tastes good though;)

Make a batch of "IRONHEAD PUDDING"

Here are the ingredients:

1/2 cup white rice (make sure rice is chilled)
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1/2 cottage cheese
1/4 grape nuts
1/2 cup mixed fruit (delmonte)
1 chopped banana

optional:
1/4 raisins
1/4 cup coconut

All you have to do is mix this stuff up in a large bowl. Overall, a very delicious mix that contains high carbs, moderate protein, and low fat. Give it a whirl!!

If it's just a matter of not being to eat enough solid food...why not just order some weight gain powder off the net? Sure you can make something...but it's a pain in the ass. Or just start with prot powder and throw in milk and some pb for a little fat and extra cals.

This formula would make a person gain weight, but many of the calories are empty. This formula has a lot of sugar. Something like this would throw of my blood sugar and make me sick.

even if you drank it slowly throughout the day?

You are forgetting about the empty calories that this shake contains. You get a large amount of fat and sugar and very little vitamins (except for A and D). I would rather go and pig out at a chinese buffet where I could eat tons of rice, chicken, and vegetables. This is by far a better choice.

I also am a big fan of ironhead pudding, which is stacked with calories, plus it is loaded with nutritious foods.

It is better to gain quality weight than fat weight.

Luoden - ??? Empty calories? I'm not sure I understand what you mean? btw, the i got the recipie from John McCallum's book - Keys to Progress. Have you ever taken a close look at the weight gainers sold in stores? 80% of the calories comes from carbo's.. that is a recipie fro trouble imo. Not so in this recipie, it has a ton of protein and lots of good fats and complex carbo's - all needed to build musle and gain weight...;)
