Looking to purchase a system (finally) that needs to fit the following: small condo, no need to shake the rafters or blow out eardrums, budget of $600.


The main room is small (750 sqft). Would prefer speakers on stands rather than wall mounted. Likewise with a multi-disc player vs. single disc.


Any opinions on different brands (Sony, Yamaha, Toshiba, Panasonic, Samsung, Onkyo, etc.)?

With your budget in mind, you might try one of those package deals. It would include receiver, sub, speakers. You would need to buy the DVD player seperate. On the downside, the speakers more than likely would be the type to wall mount or just set on something. That is what I have (Sony). I forget what I paid for it all it has been several years.
