Home Gym.

Who here works out at home? I personally think working out at home is much better than going out to a gym for the simple reason of it's more convenient, I seem to have better results when using my own equipment, It may have something to do with me using more energy at home, less showing off, more effort. Also, I always work out on my own, so I blast my own music, and don't listen to the pop sensations in the gyms around where I live.

I don't have room for any big gym equipment at home, but, I am going to buy some dumbbells and maybe a barbell with weights in a few weeks....not sure where to go thoguh..I'll have to shop around...I'm tired of going to the gym...

My neighbor has a great set-up at his house which is where I work out. I also bought my own weight set too. I love it!

luv that avatar momma!

Momma, Oshmans sport world has an excellent selection of weights and small machines. I also have no room for large machines, All I have is a bench, a curl bar, some 45 & 55 lb dumbbells, a pull up bar, a punching bag, and a treadmill.

Not much, but I can do an amazing amount of workouts with these. Goes to show fancy machines aren't really needed to get MAx results, it's effort.

A neighbor huh? Thats a great and free way to workout. All my friends are either skaters, people who don't have time for fitness, or just asses who spend to much time on the internet.

Oshmans? I live in Canada...never heard of it....even a treadmill would not be good in my house....besides the fact I have no room for it, I have 3 young kids and don't want it around them unless I'm there...so, if it's small, I cna pick it up and put it away securely......dumbells will be great...I'll get a few sets of those for now....a barbell with weights would be awesome too...I think I'll start with the dumbbells first though and gradually get the barbell.....for cardio, I'll just go jogging/running outside, like I already do.......

I got really lucky I guess. He's very dedicated (about 25 yrs worth of lifting) which motivates me as well. Takes me about 2 minutes to get to "the gym" :) (if I walk slow)

Oh, you live in canada...
Well, that limits alottof things I could recomend. The main machines that are small or compact are abdominal machines. And trust me, 20 minutes of ab workout is WAY more beneficial than some miracle working lawnmower wheel with two little handles on the side.

Your smart about having no treadmill with kids. When I was a youngin' , I broke my dads, I sortof ran at it, leaped, grabbed the handles, and swung underneath to land on the moving belt, which quickly slung me off because I had it on top speed. Those were the days... You could tear stuff up and not have to pay. Also, you have kids, that suggest a husband is present. What does he think about your revealing avatar? If he knows.

i like to work out at the gym so that i can give the ladies some eye candy.

now we have a nice school gym so all the local whores go to work out. some hot f-in bitches. now im starting to get the "i see you in the gym all the time" stuff when i go out. i knew that gym would pay dividends for me.

That is not the way to pick chicks up though.
Half of the girls I've dated don't like muscle heads. They instead like the muscle, but don't like you to spend much time working on them. So don't let em know you workout all the time, and instead let them see your muscle physique. They will like you better.

im not musclehead. im very cerebral. i have more the perfect body than the big musclehead look. im sure they love it.

I see. it's great that your mental capacity surpasses that of your strength. Seriously, strength will not get you far in life these days. It's mentality. I think the focus of all should be self improvement. whether it be mental or physical. Both are needed. America is the country with the most obeiss people in it and yet we have the most steroid usage, the most health shows, the most health nuts, etc. It's odd, In such a variation you'd think that less of the best would come from here.

keep looking in the newspaper ads i got mine from a gym going outta business..2 York olympic 410lb sets..dumbell W rack 5lb up to 120lbs all for 800.00! ~ RADAR

Workout at home -- no crowds, no waiting to use equipment, no distractions, no wiseasses or gawkers! When I'm in WV, it would be a 30+ mile trip to nearest facility.

Have freeweights, pairs of dumbells from 5 to 50 in 5 lb increments. Smith machine with lat, pec-dec, leg, preacher curl attachments. [Smith machine a must as I am usually alone], punch/kick bag, etc., etc. all in a 16 x 34 room with 10-1/2 ft high ceiling -- great for workingout.

I am very, very interested in a bowflex machine. I bowhunt deer a few months of the year, And I believe that has an effect on why my pull string deltoid looks more cut than my left. Does anyone know How effective the bowflex is? If so fill me in.

Spruceman, where in WV are you? I'm in Huntington so there's several gyms around. I live less than a mile from the Y. When I was a teenager I worked out in my parents basement. I liked it but I didn't have mucj equipment. I used two chairs as a squat rack. The chairs also doubled as dip bars. I couldn't do it now. I need spotters too often and I don't think the chairs would quite work when I go up over 400 lbs on the squat.

I have a bowflex it works really well at typical exercises that can be performed with reg weight, but free weight is best its just a supplement to my gym....but i like it...RADAR
