It's the first single. The first single off of the last one was not the best song on the track.

Do you know you? I'm curious.

Dre? Snoop? Nas' first one (my favorite rap album of all time) was beyond good, but i don't know if it was 5 star worthy.

Do you know if you can download his album on itunes? Hammy's going to send me that ipod when he cracks the code. ;)
just rob it off napster type programs

its getting a lot of press, that's for sure.

The Chronic was 5 star for sure.

IMO the last rap CD that was near perfect was Dr. Dre 'The Chronic'. I think that is when Snoop was at his best too.

Nas' 'Illmatic' was probably one of the best produced albums ever.

I agree.

My first album had no famous guest appearances
The outcome? Im crowned the best lyricist

Nas is my favorite artis. Ever. The way he tells a story cannot be rivaled. Some of his and Tupac's tracks near bring me to tears. Seriously.

Now the Diamonds song is great if you know what he's trying to say. The remix with Jay-Z makes it more clear. Kanye is another favorite of mine, he makes it easy to relate to his music.

for being a former "producer" his cd's have wretchid production...

Well see that is why this newest CD is nasty. There are several producers working with him. Article is in the first post.

rap producers are a joke. rap is a joke. The african american community is a joke. Wiggers are a joke. The music industry, without talent, substance or music, is a joke.

The future is all about laughter apparently.

Mainstream rap producers are pretty horrid minus Timbaland and his newer work is pretty blah.

i didn't care what you said zkaudio. I've posted the same thing as this post a hundred times previously. And I didn't say anything racist. I didn't say "black people such and such". I talked about rap, the music industry, the supposed community being created and its values, and white folks like you with their mockery and pigeon-holing of black people. You supplied the racism to my words from your own mind, my brother. But I like your liberal programming and passion.

^ this sounded like more than the rap community... i see that it's not what you meant but phrasing it like that is definitely going to get you some eyebrows

however, if you are simply referring to the rap industry and it's glorification of morally inept lifestyle and behavior... then I agree with you

Dont pin rap and try to convince people its not music or punk or something is better. Everyone has their own preference, if you dont like it, dont comment.

As for the kane (cause his plastics still say kane...) cd, Hella toight. Better than the first by far...infact, I kinda hope alot of rap turns into this...verrrrrrryyyyyyyy soul, but with a newer sound...very crips sounding..hmmmm...seems like it had a lot of work put into it, atleast production wise. Lyrically, he's got some interesting shit on here as well. I like him because he's not to diffucult to understand and not overly simplistic either.

My favourite songs are addiction and roses.

he still produces most of his songs (all?) and his resume for the industry is unrivaled. (can't find the link right now but i'll post it)

i wholeheartedly agree with anyone who hates him as a lyricist; he's weak. i enjoy his production, but i'd like to see him stray outside the old school sampling more often.

as for the album, i'd give it 3 stars out of 5. it will be overly praised for being different. hip hop is going to enter new frontiers the next five years for sure. good to see black musicians in the limelight making positive music and setting good examples.

track by track review-

Diamonds- *** great beat, poor chorus, awesome sampling, horrible lyrics
Skit
Heard- ** cozy beat, kinda catchy
Touch the Sky- * goes for soul, fails miserably
Golddigger- ***** awesome chorus and beat and lyrics
Skit
Drive Slow- **** i dig the sax in the beat, paul wall kills his verse
My Way Home- ** Common salvages a poor effort by kanye
Crack Music- * blah
Roses-* didn't enjoy after multiple listens
Bring Me Down-* brandy? wtf
Addiction-* can't stand his vocal tone on this track, beat is lacking too
Skit
Diamonds Remix-*** jay kills his verse
We Major*- unlistenable
Skit 3
Hey Mama-** "cute", hard to shit on a song about mothers
Celebration-*
Gone- ***** best track on the album, nothin like a little cam'ron to lighten the mood
Late-*

^songwriting and production are completely different things. Rap is one of the only industries where the MAJORITY of artists have their shit written for them... i hesitate to call them artists. They write lyrics, and i do not shovel their talent for that... I appreciate a good rap song, don't get me wrong, it's just soooo much easier to create (trust me on this one) All you need to be a rap producer in LA is a decent synth and 2 programs... Vocalign and Autotune. Done. ^ this is in a nutshell why rap producers drive escalade and rock producers ride bikes. ROYALTIES...

where did i say songwriting and producing are two different things?

kanye writes his own lyrics and produces his own music. the former sucks, the latter is plausible.

damn this CD blows

its all so repetative and unexciting, not evne any nice variations in the beat or anything, its really bland and just steady (cant think of a better way to say it)

gone is the only song worth even listening too.

through the wire is still such ag ood song though ill forgive him for this mistake

I hope you're kidding. Don't get the hijacked version. Download Roses, Drive Slow, My Way Home, Touch The Sky, Addiction, Hey Mama and Sierra Leone, cracka.
