usually if you get a lawyer dont blow you can get out of it for like 5k..

i came so close to getting a DUI because my roomate. she hands me the keys an hour before we were about to leave and said im driving because she drank too much. i was like WTF.... 9 minutes later i got pulled over and i was doing shots of tequila all night with beer inbetween. but being in law enforcement i know how to beat the roadside test. i was still lucky though, it was a state trooper also. they are pricks here in florida.

We came back from vacation with a bunch of friends. During this vacation ; i had gone to bed early. He stayed up drinking. I woke up the next day and he was not in bed with me. I walked downstairs ; he was not on the couch. I looked everywhere ; he was no where in the house. I was so worried that he had wandered into the lake and drowned because the week before he was drunk and started a bath (he never takes a bath) and pased out and flooded the whole bathroom and hallway in our brand new house.
I found him in another room in bed with another lady.
He was fully clothed ; and I assume nothing happened he just went in the wrong room ; but still.........
this is just the beginning. Two DUI's......I've only been married for 2.5 years.

i got a dui when i was 19. the legal limit for that age was .02 and i blew a .021 on the road side bac. I got cuffed and taken in where i blew another .021 on the real breath machine. I got a lawyer (worst fucking one EVER) but it got dropped to a dwai and i lost my license for 3 months (manditory in colorado) my lawyer was 900 court costs were 380 and AA clases were 90 bucks. I didn't have to get a SR22 for some odd reason but i found out that even if i would have had to get it, it wouldn't have effected the cost of insurance in anyway. After the 3 months i had to pay for a driving permit (again manditory) and then an hour later i took my driving test. so 15 for the permit and 25 for the license. so it was just under 1500 for me. The only shitty part was my lawyer guaranteed me that it would be off my record like it never happened. I had a shitty streak finding a job a year or two after it happened. I applied to jobs that needed my mvr record and my arrest came up on it and it said i was charged with a DUI not a DWAI like it was dropped too. I have to hold that on my record for 5-10 years supposedly!?!?! I have a good job right now that doesn't care but still cheaper costs or not i still kinda got fucked in the end!

Here in Nevada if you fall asleep and kill 5 people while having done X and pot 24 hours earlier you can get 20 years to life in prison - just ask Jessica Lynch. No small crime to have illegal drugs in your system (still stoned or not) here in the Sliver State.
When a similair incident happen involing presciped Xanax the women who killed 4 at a bus stop just got fined, and a suspended license. There was a public out cry, but I don't think anything came of it. I make sure to never over medicate myself when driving.

even if you have a record a mile long a first dwi is a first dwi here in mass and your getting the same as every one else.they will hammer your ass big time on the secound though its something like mando 2 years here in mass.Gambino said:

The $12,000 was for lawyers, license reinstate fees (didn't blow so automatic supsended for 6 months), alcohol counseling classes (bullshit), court costs, hired an expert witness, etc.

around here its a 500 dollar fine and 90 day license suspension for first time offenders. even with insurance increases thats a far cry from 7k in texas.

I was just being stupid when I got mine, road block, should NOT have been driving home from that party...whatever....learned my lesson.

The guy I hired was a retired state trooper who trained people on how to adminster the test.....he obviously thought it was bullshit.
I took the field sobriety test, at that time I didn't know I could refuse that too, but refused to blow.

My buddy got one, plead guilty, no laywer, went to the courthouse a week later and paid in full $2,000 because he was leaving town (marines)...no way it's $500. In IL now it's $500 just to renew your license after you get a DUI (mine was $250, it doubled recently).
Many times when you plead guilty they make it mandatory that you take alchohol classes ($$$$)
