Holiday in Scotland

We been toying with idea of going to Scotland for Holiday, I've been to Edinburgh but my honey hasn't and I keep finding myself wanting to go to the Outer Isles.

Anyone been or from?

Suggestions?
There are so many regions I want to see them all.

Where to start.

I watch the travel channel and live vicariously through you all...someday I'll travel somewhere else besides the gym, starbucks and the oregon coast.

Sounds fun though!

What on Earth could you find so appealing about Scotland?

The only good stuff we have is whiskey / malts, and you'll be drinking lots of it to escape the fact that you paid good money to "holiday" here should you choose to do so.

Here was my response to the same question posed by Java.

Oh man there's so much to see. I'll break it down by area.

North: The Highlands
Loch Ness (my families castle ruins are just south on Loch Oich)
Dufftown
Ullapool
Glencoe
Glen Finnan (where the Highlander was from)
Cape Wrath (this is an allday trip)

Middle:
Stirling and Stirling Castle
Edinburgh and Edinburgh Castle
Linlithgow Castle
Near the Kincardine bridge in Airth is the Pineapple (cool building)
Kinross
Culross
Largs on the west coast
Glasgow(haven't spent a lot of time there but it's the biggest city there)
Dundee
St. Andrews

South:
Dumfries
The Midlands
Hadrians Wall (just across the border into England)

Cheers,
Scotsman

Aside from France it's the only other place I'm inexplicably drawn to.

I see the green countryside and cliffs and I'm home.

(I also never outgrew my thing for castles and dragons - but that's a whole other thread)

Beware the Loch Ness monster. He's from 'round those parts.

Say 'hi' to the MacAlisters for me, will ya? Er, better not, somethin about a blood feud.

Seriously, if you do go, have a great time, Velvett!
