our method in the Marine Corps was just to go bullshit with them for a while. start off asking some questions, bring up something random, chit chat with them for an hour or so, then go do something semi-productive. worked like a charm.

another tactic of mine was to sit at a desk in the back of my "office" and pretend i was doing paperwork. problem with that was the higher ups were nosey as fuck, but i knew my shit real good so i could always make them think i was in the middle of something, then get them off topic and bullshit for an hour. worked like a charm.
