HK or Glock

ok, which one do you prefer? i know this is similar to the chevy vs ford argument, but i'm curious.

i will be dropping some $$$ on another gun very soon (bought several this year), and i am undecided on the next one. HK or Glock in a .40

HK USP or Glock 22?

Glock is a work-horse, no doubt, and i love mine. however, I also love HK...except for how much those bastards charge for their weapons and mags. a glock 21 mag is ~$22 compared to a HK USP 45 at ~$50.

Personally I wouldn't go with either. I don't like the feel of polycarb guns such as a Glock. Depending on how much you want to spend, Look into one from Les Baer, Ed Brown STI or Kimber. I have a Kimber .45 and absolutely love it. These guns are a little pricey but uou get what you pay for in reliability and longevity. Is this going to be a carry gun, plinking or what?

i'd get a glock...with an H&K, you're basically paying the extra price for the name....

however, the best pistol, IMO is the CZ brand of pistol....most can be had at a very good price...i've got a CZ PCR (a 75b compact), and it's the best pistol i've ever shot....IVE SHOT 2 SKEET WITH THIS FUCKING PISTOL BEFORE..

I'd go with a Glock 22. I just prefer the handling (finger grooves), lots of aftermarket parts, less expensive..... The only H&K superior to any Glock (and almost any pistol) is the P7M8. This one would be a no-brainer.

They're both very good guns, I'd get a grip on both of them and see what felt better and keep in mind the HK will need more basic maintenance/cleaning than Glocks if you plan to go shooting often.

(I'd go with a Glock if I had to answer)

There both good. The internet is full of stories of Glocks blowing up. Then again, there are more glocks being shot than probably any other handgun so maybe the chance of getting a bad one is about the same.

I"ve got a G22 and a H&K UPS45. I carry a G30. I keep the G22 in the nightstand (only because it has the Glock Tac Light on the rail). If I had a light on the USP, I'd keep that there.

If you are going to carry it, they are both huge so plan accordingly.

Are you sold on the .40?

What makes you say that Velvett? I have Glocks and HK's and they are about the same with basic maint and cleaning but ALL handguns (and any gun for that matter) should be cleaned after each day's shooting. My favorite all around handgun though is my nice trusty H&K Tactical. It is the "Best" combination of everything - just not super concielable if you aren't a bigger guy (I'm 6' 2" 215 lbs, so I can get away with it with the right rig and clothes). Its a bit pricey, but its SUPER accurate right out of the box, great trigger pull, reliable, has a threaded barrel for flash/sound suppressors, has nice raised sights, comes in .45 (my fav general load) and has a really decent recoil (great for double taps). If you get a chance, find someone with both types of guns, and shoot them back to back - not just one or two shots, run 30 rounds or so. See what works best for you in accuracy, comfort, extended shooting (does one make your hand/wrist/fingers more fatigued than the other?) ease of use of controls etc. Ask a very controvesial question like which is better HK or Glock and you will get very polarized views from purists. The real answer is that both are very decent handguns - try em out and see what works FOR YOU.

Then when you are done, you'll probably agree with me - the Tactical is amazing :).

Since you asked about only these 2..

As a CCW gun I'd say the Glock due to its light weight, carbonate body being better with body moisture and the better feel when wearing it for hours under a jacket or in hip holster.

As a competition gun few stock out of the box guns beat the H&K for durability, accuracy and reliability IMO.

Neither is special in the way of collector appeal IMO..

That pretty much what I said.
:)

I just love my Glocks.
I have 3 now.

Anywho, more than 40% of law enforcement carry Glocks.

Hmm

sounds like you'd be fun to go shooting with...

I have to go with HK. Due to having very large palms and shorter fat fingers the glocks play hell on my hands. Plus it's a personal thing but I don't fancy the internal hammer too much.

Cheers,
Scotsman

P0ink: any reason why you wouldnt consider a used P7M8 ? It's 9mm but this thing outshoots any gun I own.

ok, i think i am going to be holding off on the HK, because this dealer is sketching me out.

will only accept cash or check, wants a copy of my id, is saying he only has one left and wants to start the transaction ASAP, and the price is waaayyyy low.

Yeah - if the deal sounds too good to be true it probably is. H&K's are expensive (thats why most LEO's use Glocks or Sigs BTW) but they are very nice. P7M8 is a great piece - super well designed, reliable, safe and accurate. I don't have one yet... YET :).

obviously yall have never shot a CZ PCR before.....best all-around handgun, IMO....seriously, the accuracy is incredible on these pistols...

That's because Glocks are cheap.

I have shot CZ' before...75, 97 (.40) and 97 (9mm)

They are all good, but they are not even in the same class as an H&K. I would prefer a CZ over a Glock though.

i think HK's are overrated..great guns,,,but you can get something equal or better (cz or glock) for a lot less cash...

USPs (overpriced but not overrrated) maybe but not the P7 serie. CZs are hit or miss...

Hi; I'm new to this forum;
Anyway, I have both guns and they are both great. But might I also suggest the Beretta PX4. It is truly AMAZING!
