HITer needs input for best methodology for pure size ?

Hey guys/gals

Been in the game a long time. HIT (Mike Mentzer/Arthur Jones) has been my style of training for the last 5 years, but I feel it is time to change something.

Been training one time per week, full body workout to failure.

I feel as though I should have put on more size throughout the years, but it has been elusive. Hence, my post here.............

I have not taken body measurements.

Other stats are as follows:

38 yrs old
6'0"
210 lbs
Never done roids (unless you count 2 prohormone cycles of 3 months each). I never will do roids.

Although my squat and bench are respectable, the numbers are irrelevant at this point.

So, for one who is wanting to put on pure size what is the best methodology for doing so ?

Is a pure powerlifting routine best ? What about pure bodybuilding ? What about a modified powerlifting routine ?

I am willing to sacrifice leaness for size in the long run. I have 250 to 280 in mind as a body weight goal.

Thanks for the input.

Come on, Peeps.

There have to be others across the Fruited Plain that have wondered the same thing !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of the people on here train Westside. I don't think that will help your size alot though. Thats mainly for strength. The only want to get dramatically bigger is to eat like a horse. Eat till you can't eat anymore. Almost everyone will tell you that.

Squat heavy, eat, sleep.

Pull heavy, eat, sleep.

Push heavy, eat, sleep.

Repeat.

Seriously, any program where you regularly squat, push, and pull heavy on a regular basis should provide enough of a training stimulous to provide growth. Eat to provide fuel. I have gained size using the Westside program, as have most of the lifters hear. Even the ones who do not train this style still focus on the big three lifts.

I would say drop the HIT rotine and start eating more. I train West side and have goten great strengh and good size off of it but i am a powerlifter. First i would say start doing more sets and reps in the 6-10 range see what happens.

i used to train mentzer and it worked well for me and got me to 225 area
now i train 3 days per week mon-wed-fri
mon-- chest/shoulders/tris-- which is bench press as major exercise. i do a total of 6 work sets for chest then do tris and shoulders

wednesday---back/traps/bis----my major lift is either dead lifts or partial deads, then pull downs, then shrugs, and then to bis

friday---legs----my main exercise is either squat or heavy leg press then i do a couple of small sets on ext or curls

i have been doing this for about 1 and 1/2 yrs and now am a solid 244 and has worked great for me

power training will make you bigger---do 3 rep area on some things--6 rep area on some things--and 10-12 rep area on other things
