For those of you who have hitchhiked or picked up hitchhikers. Do you really think it is a risky thing to do? I ask because there are alot of hitchhikers here where I live always thumbing they're way around. I have never picked one up but always consider doing it. Anyone ever have any bad experiences doing this, or good ones?

Worm picked up a hitch hiker once in AZ. I had 2 buddies in the car with me and the one in the backseat was annoying the piss out of me so I see this guy that looked like he hadnt showered for quite a while walking down the road with his thumb in the air so I picked him up and told him to hop in the backseat. He didn't speak english but seemed like a nice guy. My buddy asked where he was going and the fucker only wanted a ride for a block and a half. My car stunk after that but it shut my buddy up.

Would you let strangers share your house? Your fantasies of having sex with a hitchhiker are short-lived; however it's plausible, just don't complain if things go weary.

Every time I see a hitchiker I think of the lines from "Riders on the Storm" by Jum Morrison and The Doors.

"Theres a killer on the road, his brain is squirmin' like a toad, take a long holiday, let your children pray, if you give this man a ride, sweet family will die, killer on the road."

So then i pick the guy up. :die:

I drove to Alaska a couple years back with a friend. We picked up every hitchhiker we saw... and I'm really glad we did. Probably the best part of the trip was spending time with some of the hitchhikers we met. Hitchhiking is part of life in Canada... even girls hitchhike (and we picked up a few totally kick ass women who were back packing and thumbing their way all across Canada. You got to respect a girl who sleeps alone in the woods in Grizzly country.) Here in LA I never pick up hitchhikers. There never are any. It's just not an American thing in the big cities.

I pick them up all the time. I used to hitchike a lot so it seems right to help return the favour to those in need of a ride.

I doubt that anyone would want to rape a 6'3 270lb man. I've had hitchickers turn down the ride that I offer them. Kinda insulting.

I'll pick them up if I'm with another person.

Me and my bud picked up one guy who told us he was following secret radio waves throughout Canada. He asked to be droped of near a power station so that he could 're-change'. Needless to say the ride with him was the most interesting 2 hours of my life.
