Hit?

are you refering to mentzer's HIT? if yes, then no i haven't used it but the general opinion is that it's crap. pick one of the routines in the training sticky or if you have something else in mind do ask about possible tweaks.

Who has used it with good results in size and strength?

It seemed to work for Mike Mentzer, but I don't think most people can take the intensity to the level he did.

I can't remember where I read it, but someone said that building muscle is like getting a suntan. You can't sit out in the sun for 10 hours and expect to get the perfect tan. Smaller, less intense doses over time seem to be the answer.

I've tried High Intensity Training and according to Mike, you go way beyond failure, and only train that bodypart about once every 7-10 days.

It really wasn't for me. It was like starting over after a long layoff.

The thing is, Mentzer didn't build his own body doing one set of pulldowns every 2 weeks.

There were 100's of testimonials on his old site.. and not a SINGLE PICTURE of any of these clients.

the relationships of Intensity/load/volume/frequency have been discussed many many times here, read some of the madcow posts linked in the stickeys to get an idea of why it's a balancing act.

I've used HIT variations for most of my training over the years (conditioning for martial arts rather than BB - mostly routines from Ellington Darden Books/Routines (full body, 8-10 exercises, 1 set to failure, 2-3 x per week, bodypart specialization every 2-3 months) and got great results - simple and time efficient - had decent results with some Menzer routines but not the consolidated stuff and recently did an intermediate 5x5 and increased strength very well. Guess i gained about 30 lbs and around 7-8% bodyfat using HIT.
