Hit & Run Update

Well, the Police have yet to anything to my benefit regarding the hit & run of my vehicle. They have, however, slipped up twice proving to me that they know exactly who this person is and that they are protecting this person for some reason.

Tell me if I'm just crazy...

A police officer from the precinct lives around the corner from the gal who owns the suspect car and has seen it damaged.

The police officer that wrote my police report said that the driver (car owner's boyfriend) is out of the country. Now how could he know that this is the man that drove the car and that he is out of the country? He has not ran the girl's plates to do a registration check for a particular car in a specific style and color to find out she own the car and he drives that car????

Does this make sense?

I have $2,350 worth of damage on my car and I have to walk by this girl's car everyday to get home (she works near to where I live) and refrain from showing my frustration and anger on her car or right to her face.

Yah, so my insurance will pay and I will have to fork out $500 dollars - big deal right? Well, this is the second time in 11 months and I will not let it go. If my insurance drops me I will just lose it on the nearest relatively guilty person.

Any reasonable and calm advice from anyone????

4 inch stilleto knife - to slash the tires with.
Louisville slugger - nothing like it for busting windows.

Or....

Just stuff a banana up the tail pipe of her car.

Also request a paint matching from the suspect vehicle to yours.

If the two paints match...voila!

Doesn't seem right to me - especially the $500.00 you will have to fork out.

You know... you really should make 'nice nice' with some Italian guys. They can be most helpful in these situations. :D

Thanks everyone -- you're cheering me up.

I'm trying to refrain from doing something violent, well, at least until Halloween - when it could be consider a prank.

Wodin, I spoke to a lawyer and he said it's only a misdemeanor and not felony since there were no injured people involved. I think that sucks I tell ya -- a man out here ran a kid over, killed him, left the seen and after his wife turned him in and the paint from his suburban was found on the kid's body they charged him and found him guilty of leaving the scene of an accident. He did 3 months of an 18 month sentence. IT'S MESSED UP I TELL YA!

Oh did I forget to mention that the police officer that wrote the report let it slip (I was eavesdropping) to another officer that the guy that allegedly was driving the car was arrested the week prior and received a DWI summons.

Oh dear, the blood pressuring is going up again.

You know I was safer to park a car on the lower east side of NYC in the late 80's early 90's than I am in the boonies of LI.

I'm venting - I'm sorry.

Shrebly, It's back to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn I go....MUHAHAHAA
(good idea) Also, if I get her insurance I will not have to pay the $500 and my insurance company will not have to foot the bill.

Girl - sometime I will have to tell you about what happened in Jersey City with me & Kneepads. You will laugh yourself silly!

:eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:

well, if the police are "supposedly" protecting someone, you gotta get the police to be on YOUR side...........so put on your best kneepads, time to go to work girl!!!

HAHAHHAA!

Thanks. Good thing I have a sense of humor. I called the precinct this morning and told my sob story to an officer that actually listened and seemed to care (either that or my heavy breathing was getting him off). I don't know what will come it all - but I will get some sort of *cough* karmic justice eventually.

i gave you some positive karma.

you're cool velvett. i assume you are socially/financially high powered & physically attractive, but you're still down to earth and unhaughty. good for you.

Put some sugar in the gas tank, slash the tires, bust the windows

If you a positive they did it take them to civil court and sue there asses for damaging your propery, the get the insurance money then get the lawyer fee then get some personal stress money, then take me drinking with you....

Or you can do what I would do, a .45 and a shovel, no one will miss them.....

You know I don't normally like revenge, but, I think you
might need some here.

I would suggest filing a complaint against the officers
involved, but some of them like their revenge too.

Just don't get caught, whatever you do.

Actually it's pretty easy. Just give your insurance company all of the info that you've gathered. Your uninsured/underinsured motorists insurance will pay to get your car fixed minus your deductable. :(

Your insurance company has investigators and lawyers that will go after this person. It's their job and that's why your paying for insurance right. As much as you'd like to, don't take matters into your on hands, you'll only make it worse. Insurance company investigators and lawyers are blood hungry and they'll take care of it.

I'm sorry about your car.

Rotten makes a good point. Insurance investivators LIVE to fuck people in the ass! :) Seriously, they get off on nailing people for stuff like this. I'd talk to them, if I were you.

The insurance adjusters are lazy asses.
I gave them the proof that a $4,700 catalytic converter had not been replaced by the shop yet they did nothing, even after more than 5 calls.

Small claims is the way to go. Get the receipt for the entire repair, get matching paint and pictures, and then sue her for the ENTIRE amount. Get a paint sample and have the repair shop write a letter that they matched the paint and it is identical. They will be only too happy to do it. Get the police report if it will help. It shouldn't be too hard to win in small claims and you can get like $2,500 for your trouble.

Make sure you write the check to the shop and have the insurance pay you.
That way, you can negotiate a cheaper "cash" price with the shop and put some coin in your pocket and at the same time hit her for the full amount. If they ask you in small claims if the insurance paid the claim, just say "no", no one will have the evidence to refute you. Or you can file the claim later and be telling the truth.

velvett ...rotton has the right advise...If you do anything to them or their car, you'll only get your own ass in a sling. And the next car you buy, get a old AMC Pacer station wagon...they are ugly as hell and an accident only improves the looks !

Velvett,

Is this all left over from the Lizzie Grubman episode?

LI cops ...I don't miss em.

I can give you my younger brother's number. He and his 19 year old punk friends will drive out there (only an hour) and vandalize the car at a time when you have an airtight alibi.

I'd go talk to a lawyer and see what's what...if u can't get anything from it...wait till it all blows over. In about a year do something about it. I thought a hit and run carries a hefty fine if u don't stop and do something about it.
