Hip joint/Muscle problem....Squating >>>>

Hey everyone, have been "out" for a while and just getting back into the swing of things.....Lots of things going on right now :rolly:

Well, here is what is happening at the moment: I have been doing low Box Squats now for a while...Mostly Speed squats....Seems like one day I after one of these sessions, I started to have a small pain on the inner-hip/groin area, nothing big though...It seems more of an inner-thigh/hip issue rather than a groin issue.....

Now, when squatting low (right at/below parrallel) I start feeling the pull from my inner thigh/hip on ONE side only....

When this first started a few months ago, during the day my hip would feel like my hip was tight and needed to be "cracked". So, thinking cracking it might help, one day I simply stretched my leg/hip to the side and made it crack...It felt better and felt like it had a little more ROM....

Ever since that, it "cracked" once every few days or so while stretching it...Now I try NOT to crack it, but it has a small click if I move it the right way....I have been taking MSM (Sulfer) to help the joint/muscle rebuild as neccessary .. ((Hoping this will help))

I do those hip aductor machings for a few sets to warm up and more after squating to help fix this.....

Now I DONT think this was poor-form from "regular" squating...However, I think it was probably from EXPLODING-UP with Speed Box Squats ........

So, any advice or excercises I can do to fix this???? Anyone else have/ever had this problem before??? I can still squat good, but breaking paralel is where this starts to happen .....................

Stance is pretty wide but not super wide...If that helps ....No briefs or suite while box squating...Should you wear them for Speed Box squats??

Woow, did not know that..Thought they were only used like a Suite - for Heavier weight only!!!

Guess the briefs will give the extra support, but did not think I needed them for 50-60% max for speed day...Will try them next time...

I still have to work on strengthining the hip for the mean time.... :(

Thanks Liftbig!!

yeah defiantly work on getting your hips stronger, adduction, abduction, dragging sled, etc. dont be afraid to wear your gear, its made to protect you, not just for heavy weight.

From what you describe, you have a problem with your adductors, there may be some tightness/inflexibility. The Gluteus Maximus + Adductor Magnus are main stabilizers at the inner hip/groin adductor area. Incorporate some side lunges, sitting groin stretches, and you'll be doing yourself a huge favor in avoiding further problems, or worsening of this condition. And lighten the load for a bit, until your problem is gone. Better to proceed slower and injury free than to rush along and get hurt.
