HIIT Questions

Ok guys, I have a few questions regarding cardio not just HIIT in general.

1. Should I do my cardio first thing in the morning on a empty stomach?

2. Upon completing my cardio, should I eat my breakfast (Egg whites & oatmeal) or just have a protein shake and wait an hour before eating my breakfast?

3. Will 2 a week doing HIIT be enough to shed some body fat since I"m cutting?

Any input would be great. Thanks.

Hey Shobe

1) You will get conflicting opinions on this subject. Studies have shown that a small meal 40 mins-1 hour before cardio helps burn more calories, increases metabolism by 10%, gives you more energy by increasing glucose stores, and helps stop the body from attacking muscle. However, I PERSONALLY like to do it on an empty stomach in the morning...it's more psychological if anything for me

2) Your best bet would be to treat your cardio like a workout. Have a protein shake, wait about 45mins-1 hour, and eat your breakfast (perfect breakfast, btw).

3) Yes, 2 a week should be adequate, especially if you are supplementing it with a weightlifting routine.

HIIT is definately the most effective for of cardio...it takes less time, and it burns less muscle. I'd go for the "Guerilla Cardio" variation. This thing takes like 15 mins, KICKS YOUR ASS, but is a great, great, great fat-burner.

I think it's best to have a shake a little before cardio( I don't get drained as quick), then a shake after with breakfast about an hour later.
