Went to donate blood and they told me my Iron was too high. Why is this? I do not take Iron supplements. Could this be related to my Testosterone use?

Yes, testosterone increases iron and a lot of protein shakes contain iron. MuscleMilk has 100% of the RDA -- way too much, especially for men. You may also be a little dehydrated.

Don't drink shakes. Drink 3/4 a gallon a day. Must be the Test?

Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using EliteFitness

test--> androgens -->which bind to androgen receptors in kidneys-->which stimulate red blood cell production (a really complex process)-->which requires iron so it is likely part of some feedback loop (like making the iron available for use)

how long have you been on test?

it probably has been a long time, that is unusual they would turn your blood down like that.. and i would be concerned with other issues as well. this is why its important to cycle OFF.. you are gonna be dealing with significant organ strain

No bro. They took my blood! LOL They said I was only 4 points away from them NOT accepting it. LOL.

4 points based on what scale? 1-5 :laugh2: just kidding

have your blood work done including kidney function--just in case.

some peeps are genetically predisposed to high iron (which must be managed as it can be an issue). If this is not you, just make sure it not an issue.

If your eating eggs, brown rice, flax, oats, tuna or any other fish and chicken breast of course all of that contains iron... Flax and oats contain a pretty good amount... Your protein shakes contain more iron and your multivitamin if your taking one probably contains a great amount of iron as well!
I would recommend you track your iron DV percentage on a calorie counting application so you'll know just how much your taking in! It won't factor in the test of course but if your taking in well over 115% or more a day then I would recommend trying to minimize that!
