High BF and AAS Gains.

Hey guys, this could thread could not only be helpful for myself for educational purposes, but for also over 50% of EF members.

If someone was to have High BF, i.e 19% + and use an AAS to BULK, despite the increase of estrogen turning into fat, as well as the perception of lack of diet and cardio, how else will high bf effect:

--> Muscle Gains
--> Will these muscle gains be noticeable visually at this high BF?

This can be from a scientific POV or BROscience!

Thanks, dvoted.

at that high of body fat, chances are you have a higher bp and cholesterol and taking aas is only going to add to the problem...

now you asked about using aas to bulk... if you are bulking, with a high body fat, how can you expect to see anything over that amount of fat? you know what i mean... its one thing to gain muscle and maintain body fat or drop it a bit but your not going to gain a ton of muscle and drop like 3 % body fat... you might get stronger and bigger but with that amount of fat, your not going to see the huge muscle growth... you will be a bigger person but chances are its not the kind of big you are wanting...

I knew you would be the first to post! never dissapointed in your perspective, yes thats very true! I know a few guys who've hit AAS to bulk at a high BF, they did get bigger, i.e clothes wise and vissually yet, due to the lack of striations, and seperation of the muscle, they didn't look "Big" they looked bulky.

If they drop BF, reckon they would be impressed with the gains? or has the high BF limited the muscle growth?

anytime you have less body fat you will notice muscle gain a lot more in terms of visibility... you can get strong either way, but actually seeing the muscle growth, of course the lower the body fat the more you will see...

Im planning to cut with it soo if i can keep my most of my gains off this cycle, that'll be great, anything more is a BONUS! I might come to you within 6 weeks to ask for a hektik diet i can follow :) so i can preserve the most muscle as possible :)

anytime bro, just let me know!

reduced insulin sensitivity, detrimental to nutrient usage. of course aas helps that to some degree but youd have better results being lean
and as mentioned, pronounced estrogen sides due to higher conversion rate, blood pressure and cholesterol. also pct will be harder as someone overweight will probably gain more fat as they try to hold onto their gains

for most people there is no point in bulking if you are near 20%

dylan pointed out the health risks which are numerous and real but just think.. why are most people juicing.. to look better, feel better.. something along those lines.. well if thats the case and you are at 20% get to 10% and you will be happier.

Yes and to add to that. When I cut from 235 to 215 most people think I look bigger. Yes odd I can loose 20lbs and look bigger. Its about muscle definition. That doesn't even get into the unhealthyness of taking steriods when your over weight. Over weight is a condition of a bad diet, too many bad fats and glycerides. Bad diet + over weight + Steriods = heart issues. Many types of heart issues. Look at Test does to LDL and HDL. It doesn't make sense to trash your body like that. Its just not safe and not smart.

I'm not sure why you would try to bulk up if your bigger or even fat.

BUT, I know power lifters that take aas for strength, not looks or size. None of them even know there bf because they could care less. They definitely have a harder time trying to recover/pct. Plus, after cycle they start to look fat and very unhealthy.

i always been that guy around the 24% bf range, strong 4 plate guy, bulky but never had that small waist line. i been lifting since i was 17,im now 37 @ 5'7". never had my diet or cardio dialed in. done a bunch of cycles, made some great gains early on but last few never got that look i been looking for... now im on a new path. gonna get lean and keep it off and see what comes along with it. i been killing it in the gym, cardio, diet and never been this excited too see my new body. in march i was 197lbs now im at 185lbs with 2.5" less waist. got alot too go but its coming off faster then i thought. goal for now is too shred up 4" more. im hoping too see much better results when i run gear at around 15%or less. can not wait!!!

great attitude and mentality and with that kind of attitude, you will get the results you are looking for...

A great read with lots of educated information, I myself don't like the over shredded look, and its not suited to my position in my sport. But do admire the guys that can maintain that low bf%

I've bulked at high bodyfat before, you gain muscle, look absolutely huge in clothes, but then you take them off and have no definition whatsoever and also I looked pregnant for a while with water bloat at high bf lol, but now I'm getting ripped for the first time since I started AAS and things are so much different, I feel 100% healthier, getting positive comments on my physique again and also I know I'm building in a window where I can afford to put on a few pounds on over my next 'bulk' cycle...

BTW it was the 'bulk and cut' approach that led to me being fat in the first place, gaining 30lbs to have to cut 25 of them no longer appeals to me, from now on a bulk for me is going to be adding 5 lbs or so and no more, my body isnt capable of gaining more muscle than that within 8-10 weeks so why bother adding on fat.....

I was at 40% BF and did a cycle I was fine, My situation is a little different than most I compete in Olympic weightlifting as a super heavy weight. I was able to add 15kg to my snatch and 23kg to my clean and jerk.
I had to take lost of liver support and cholesterol stabilizers.

Aside from the side effects associated with being overweight, fat is essentially a hormonal storage unit for estrogen. Your natural levels will be elevated and your gains will be mitigated. I would assume that for that same reason fat would play a role in aromatization as well.
