hey motorcycle riders...

juiceddreadlocks

rebuilding, getting there
Platinum
or ''asphalt assassins'' do you wear a helmet when you ride? I remember going to a local cycle shop to get some 2 stroke oil and seeing all this info about fighting laws that require a helmet because it takes away from your ''choices''...

why would anyone ride without a helmet?

I wear my helmet 99% of the time, I'll ride from my apt to where I keep my bike without it and that's about it.

Cheers,
SCotsman

Considering I average about 80mph wherever I go, yes, I always wear my helmet!

It's a choice just like seatbelts but I still am better about wearing my helmet than my seatbelt.

Wear it all the time on the Gixxer. I have to admit I dont' wear it on the chopper.

At slower speeds, I would think they would add value.

At very high speeds they would likely earn thier nickname of Brain Bucket.

What cracks me up are young dudes riding crotch rockets with shorts, tank tops
and friggin Flip Flops on the highway.

that is bugging me too even as a passenger. I would never get on that bike without being covered.

In Michigan they are trying to pass a law that you dont need to wear a helmet, but I think only a fool would opt for not wearing one

About 1/2 of the riders down here are fools.

well, if they pass that law here, I think I would see a lot of those fools too. I heard my husbands friends saying stuff like - if they want to only go to the nearest local store that they shouldnt have to put the helmet on. Dumb. But thats just me. :whatever:

ny you gotta wear a helmet and even if it wasnt a law i still would, my helmet def saved me from having my brains all over the street when i went flying thru the air superman style off my ninja 3 years ago. im amazed at all the squids who ride around FL, CT and PA with no helmets

i always wear full gear. period.

some GP photos from Laguna this last weekend- enjoy.

When I rode I didn't wear one unless I was leaving the state, all the neighboring states had helmet laws. It's a personal choice thing for me. I knew people who were killed with helmets, and some who were killed without helmets.

were the people that got killed while wearing helmet had a Harley or sports bike helmet? The Harley one can move and leaves a part of the head voulnerable (sp?), cause its not full face helmet

at the GP- they ran out of water.....WTF. i did not go, i had to work, it was way too hot and humid to make the ride, driving doesnt interest me....i couldnt even get out of my own town due to traffic. 50 miles of gridlock going north on hwy 101...fuck that.
there was only a fraction of the bikes traveling from here as there was last year....long lines to eat, no where to stay, long lines for fuel in 100' + heat...i didnt miss anything...Laguna Seca is not spectator friendly either...

those are nice :) I hate buying pants from the internet. These dealerships and stores here have a section of Acsessories and Parts, but they have hardly any parts in stock and they have jackets, helmets, gloves, only like 3 backpacks and few pants....pityfull

I dont wear one in town, I cant hear as well and neck movement is limited. A nice helmet would fix this, but they are rather expensive. I always wear helmet when going on any highways.
Alot of bikers that comes through kansas going to Sturgis, go around nebraska instead of going through to to avoid the helmet law. I can see why so many bikers die that week.

I love seeing hot chicks on sport bikes..

Second only to Hot 1/2 naked chicks driving jeeps with the top/door off.

I worked in motorcycle dealers for 10 years and now I'm a Firefighter and have seen my share of people hurt or killed on bikes. Something like 70% of people are hit IN TOWN or within 3 miles of there house. So...........put a nice helmet on now!!! And yes, I do wear one and much more!

I typically ride nude
I like feeling the power between my legs

oh, and Nicky Hayden is the fuckin KING! he tore up that MotoGP race. Sucks Rossis bike died

You ride your bike nude? Is that even allowed?

Helmets work better at slower speeds, like on mountain bikes or ten speeds.

After a high speed crotch rocket crash though, what quality of life would one be left with?

I hope you are joking! I have split a $600 helmet open at over 80 MPH (more than once) and walked away. I have fallen from a stand still and walked away. I have seen people fall from 4 ft. ladders and die from head injuries! Sorry, but that is bull shit bro...

That's the impression I've gotten from some riders though. I guess they never crashed or something.

If you ride bikes you will understand this:

It's not "if" you will crash, but when. If you spend alot of time on two wheels and have not crashed yet....you will. Everyone does.

My first and only crash was on a KX80 when i was 8 years old. riding near some softball fields that had orange plastics nets for homerun fences. Came around a corner too fast, froze up, and slid right into the fence. O ya, there was a softball game going on at this time.

Expensive? Where are you shopping? My HJC is a light helmet with removable padding and I have no problem seeing or hearing. It cost me $200 with an extra visor. There is no excuse for not wearing one. I don't think the government has a right to tell us whether we should or shouldn't, but I do have a right to call anyone who doesn't wear one a moron. :)

yeah go ahead ride without one....its cool.

if it wasn't such bad luck to look at crash pics I could dig out some shots that would make the strongest stomach turn.

with helmet and without.

i know, i actually hate it. but sometimes to see a point being made is better than reading....its rather difficult to argue with this photo with a dialogue.

I think, only fools kill unborn babies too but we have that freedom. I choose to protect my head when I ride but I like that, in my state, it's my head and my choice

choice is correct...i could care less if anyone rides with or without a helmet. i take care of myself, and if a girl gets on the back of my bike- she wears a skid-lid, because she is now my responsibility...

I was at laguan also, I had flag room passes, free drinks; soda, waters, redbull, beers, wine. We also got breakfast and lunch.

I always wear my gear. For the street, I wear jacket, gloves, boots, helmet.
at the track, 1pc suit, boots, etc etc.

fuck. shorts!!!!!!

he is the guy way in the background with his shirt off. he was at 12 o'clock and just dumped off, skidding on his knees, hands, and elbows. the scars on his face arent too bad, but his arms and hands are terrible.

I think he was actually doing like 80 or 90, he was in second gear. ill try to get ahold of the video that shows part of the wreck

I think your right but here in Texas you must carry higher personal protection coverage with your insurance to make that choice. Every time some idiot squids his way on to the pavement, it cost tax payers more money if his insurance does not cover it. Plus, it brings everyone’s insurance rates that much higher when injury numbers go up. And I think everyone already knows how fucking high the insurance is!!!

Insurance companies screw us anyway. The helmet laws suck!

the track temp was 138' @ Laguna :worried: my neighbors went and had nothing but negative things to say, basically all the things i mentioned in my earlier post. they had to stay in King City which was 90 miles out.....what bike you ridin bro? post up a pic and welcome.

generally when i ride my Gsxr I wear my full suit + helmet,
but i have gotten into a bad habit of not wearing a helmet when i ride my cruiser

and the intown accidents are always the case, i had my first Major accident 2 miles from my house, and got TORE UP! I am scarred for life and still get all kinds of people starring at me and not saying a dam thing.

That being said, Wear your helmet and Gear, at all times.
