Can you tell me wtf is so great about this game The Getaway. From what I see, the graphics look normal. They only have six cars you can use in the game. Why is it so fucking great?

it has way more cars than that - it just doesn't show them all. you can drive taxis and deliver vans and all kinds of shit.

if you don't like it, that's dope.

all I'm saying is that I want it more than I want to bang... well, I was gonna say the olsen twins, but that is an out and out lie.

It does look quite sweet. I don't think it has the independence that GTA has though which gives you so much replay and just pure fun out of a game. To the same extent anyway. I didn't think GTA3 could be better, but Vice City is. It's just great.

The main question I guess would be, is it going to be better than ViceCity or just another wanabe that can't compare? It seems like an ok game, but the site just doesn't give enough info.

GTA: VC kicks ass.. Im not too far into it yet cuz of lack of time.. if I didnt have a job or commitments Id always be on that shit.

I can't decide if I am going to buy a ps2 or xbox. I like the graphics and almost everything better on the xbox, but it just doesn't have the games to compete with ps2. I have seen some of the games coming up for xbox and some look great, but I like action games like the gta series. If only they would put out gta for the xbox!

I like both the xbox and ps2. The games truly aren't even close though. Ps2 has all the great games. Xbox has some good ones, but they just don't add up to all the great ones for ps2. Thats the point of the video game system anyway, to enjoy it. So in my experience the enjoyment comes from all the great games and the ps2. With only a slight difference in performance.

the getaway isn't really supposed to compete with vice city - it is a different type of game.
it is supposed to be more real.
if getting from point A to point B in London would take 20 minutes in real life, then it will take that long in the game too.

you can still steal cars, shoot people, etc etc - but they are different games entirely.
the getaway also has more realistic physics and animation programmed in, so in my opnion that is better, but in the end, it depends what you are looking for.

I will be buying both games, and both systems, so in the end, I don't care too much.

yeah, but instead of being a dark detective story, it is supposed to be like playing Snatch or Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Also, this is an engine from scratch - so it isn't just hacked together (which is what GTA was by the way - they hacked on new features over time - supposedly VC is a bit better in that respect - but from what I have heard, it is still sort of cartoonish).

The downside is that the reason people can overlook GTA's allowing you to kill people is that it has this unreal feel to it.
The Getaway is going to feel much more real - so fucking shit up in that world will feel that much more real, which is going to mean that there will be some more complaints I'll bet.

Ok, when you say more like real life, to what point do you mean. When I think of real life, I think that a gunshot will get real bloody. Also, is it like one shot and you die? Because I can' stand that bullshit. How real is it going to be?

Well happy, I've got to give it to ya. Its looks like this will be a great game. After reading the review I think that even though you said it wasn't meant to, I think The Getaway might out-do gta.
