Hey, Guess What!

I Told You So ...
EF VIP
I think I have viral meningitis, how weird is that? My neck has been hurting in a way like it never has before, I'm kind of run down, I've had a minor headache and mild shooting pains here and there since yesterday afternoon and Advil isn't touching any of it, oh, and when I took my temperature this morning it was 96.2.

Now, kiddies, don't get your hopes up, I think it's a mild case and I'm reasonably sure I'll live. My husband is having a low grade panic attack, though.

Save the comments about doctors or hospitals, I don't have health insurance so that's a non issue, ain't nothing you can do for the viral kind, anyway.

damn MM! Stay healthy! there is nothing at all you can do at home?
Already doing all I can, thanks hun. I've got a cranky immune system, it's already kicking ass and taking names. It's just funny, I have no life, I don't socialize, I have no idea where I picked it up.

HOpe you feel better, soon.

The only thing I can think of is the grocery store or the gas pump - because of swine flu I've been sanitizing my hands after those two things which i cant avoid touching. lol

get well soon mm...this board needs you.

I had meningitis when i was 3 and almost died from it....take care of yourself....why no health ins??

Vitamin C... hope you feel better soon.

BTW - what's your take on resveratrol, MM?
Yep, and elderberry, and water and everything else I know that helps. Tincture of time seems to be the only cure :(

Don't know a thing about resveratrol, never actually heard of it. Can't think about it right now, my head hurts too much and nothing touches it ... and I've still got three tapes to type ...

Short answer, money, longer answer, I don't believe in conventional medicine, anyway (except for trauma) and they've never, ever helped me. Every time I've ever gone to a doctor (other than a chiropractor, eye doctor or dentist) with a health problem they made me sicker, and the last time they nearly killed me over something really stupid. I figured if I had a broken bone or something like that, that's different, I'll fork over the money to the ER if I have to.

ive been needing to practice my lp skills.....lets do it!
Nope, nope, nope. My temperature is finally starting to head in the right direction (last night it was around 97.6 or so. This morning it was a full degree lower at 96, just took it again, 97.9, yay me).

Hey, little funny FYI, when a person lacks the normal cervical lordotic curve, if they have meningitis, it hurts more for them to look UP than it does to put their chin on their chest, how weird is that?!

Beleive it or not the ER will NOT set a broken bone. They will diagnose the break but then you have to go to an orthopedic specialist to have it set.

I kid you not.

How long have you felt this way and what's up with the low temp?

Come on up here and we'll get you to a dr without having to file for bankruptcy.

Wow Sweets I hope that you feel better soon!!

No joke. You need to take care of you..You know how to do it, surely. Proper fluids, and plenty of rest. And tell your man to stop with the panic attacks and start nurturing you, cause if not I do not have any issue at all of kicking his ass out and taking his place!

My spine is so screwed up I forced my first husband to swear an oath to me that no matter how much I whined he was to not let me forget that I didn't want an epidural during labor.

I will never willingly let a conventional doctor anywhere near my spine. You people are dangerous, no offense.

i feel the same way about unqualified medical advice given via the interwebs.

i take no offense.

I hope MM gets better, I'm counting on puddles biting it so I can get that xbox and wii
I'm not dead yet. Ice applied to the occipital nuchal region is the only thing that helped other than completely mindless R&R (i.e., lots of t.v., those Hulu commercials are correct, you know, t.v. does turn your brain to goo). Even though my job is sitting I didn't start improving until I just totally shut down mentally and froze the hell out of my neck and head, couldn't even read.

I'll have to get away from here soon, even. I'm good for an hour, maybe, then it starts hurting again. Fun bug.

Would you trust me to do some sub occipital release for you? That does wonders for nuchal tension and rigidity!

Get your hubby to do this for you, its easy, you just balance the head and neck right right atlanto-occpital junction and the direct pressure inhibits the suboccipital nerve decreasing tone in those muscles. Give it a try, it works awesome for tension headaches too, and just feels good in general.
