Hernia?

Distortion

New member
last night while i was just sitting down reading I got this sharp pain a little below my waist line. I dont do squarts or do any heavy lifting really. This morning the pain is gone below my waist but my left nut feels weird. Now this may be mental or just because I was playing with my damn balls so much seeing if I have a hernia, but what is that caught test that docs do when you turn your head or whatever.

decribe the pain

where is it, what does it move too or radiate to

is it the first time u felt it

anything making it better or worse, is it still hurting? how does your nut feel 'wierd'?

can you feel any lumps or masses there? the test is cupping your nuts and coughing and feeling if a mass moves into your scrotum (indirect inguinal hernia)

but seriously, if u did have a hernia, u should go to a doctor as he is the only one whos going to be able to examine you properly

Its pretty much all gone now, My left ball just felt out of place or something, not really painful just weird. If it was a hernia it would be painful right?

a hernia becomes painful when it gets strangulated or incarcerated (this is basically when the loop of intestine that has herniated gets squeezed or twisted and the blood supply gets cut off)

So it is possible to get a hernia, and not necessaily feel pain from it. however you will feel something in your scrotum if you have a direct inguinal hernia, and it it has the characteristiv of not being able to get above it when you examine it.

They can push out thriugh a defect in the abdominal wall as well so you could get a lump in the stomach aea as well

however pain in the scrotum is not necessarily due to a hernia....the fact that you said it happened as you sat down means it could have been anything really. If you feel worried or it happens again you might as well see your doc as it probably doesnt cost too much right?

and it it has the characteristiv of not being able to get above it when you examine it.

Could you clarify this please.

And yeah I think i'm gona get a physical this summer, i'm in college and I dont have a doc here but I go home in a few weeks.

Not really, its kinda hard to explain and its most likely to hard to distinguish unless you;ve felt one before

To be honest if you do feel any lump in your scrotum or any pain now you should go and see your doc rather than wait IMO :) If it was just a one off episode of pain i guess its up to you

Ok today there is no pain, but it feels like my left nut has gone like up into me or something, but lookin at it its in the same place. Any ideas?

Hey dude, I've just come on.
Could you tell me if there is any loss of feeling to your left testicle.
Make 100% sure on this answer as it is very important.
I'll be on for another 30 minutes or so.

it still hurts if i squeeze it, it appears to be the same as the right. I assume you're thinking that the circulation may be cut off right?

So there is no loss of any feeling in either testicles?
Is your scrotum swollen or red?
Is there any pain or discomfort when you urinate?

When you say it hurts when you squeeze it ... it is tender if you were to just press against it and if so where (be specific) ?

I mean I dont really have anything to judge it by, I dont check the sensitivity of my balls daily.
Its not swollen or red, no pain when i urinate. And When I squeeze it the whole ball hurts, like i just got kicked in the balls or something you know.

First thing I'll say is this is not a diagnosis but it is something to consider so don't get too worked up by what I say.

The thing I am trying to rule out is testicular torsion. This is when the spermatic cord gets twisted. It can happen to varying degrees and over extended peiods of time but it is a very serious thing. If left untreated it can result in the loss of the testicle. This is an emergency procedure.

Other things to consider:
- dilated vein
- cyst or infection in the epididymis

Regardless of what is going on down there, you really should see a physician and have an ultrasound diagnosis to rule out any of the above, especially the torsion.

If it gets worse

Make the appointment regardless.
If it gets worse and it turns out to be a torsion, you are going to have serious problems. But like I said, don't get yourself too worked up about this until you know for sure what is going on as it could be the result of something else.

Torsion is not the worst case scenario but it is the one which requires immediate attention. The cord is untwisted and the testicle is anchored in place to prevent any future torsions. The other testicle is also anchored to prevent the same thing happening.

But again, find out for sure what you are dealing with as it could be the result of something else. Try and get into a habbit of checking yourself out on a regular basis too so that you can become more familiar with how your body works and what things are supposed to feel like.
