Well ...how did this pain start,?would be a good place to begin.

ah! the good old squat routine, that is nortorious for breaking down the spongy cartlidge behind the kneecap!
Heavy supplementation with knox gellatin,& a combo of glusomanine sulflate,& MSM will help in repairs & an added bonus -if you have a QVC near...get some "STOP PAIN" its a tropical spray, and its also fortified with glusamonine,& MSM,its amazing stuff in helping relieveing pain.
Until thats better i would suggest knee wraps for support and back off on the weight by 50% until things get back in the norm..also a different stance, placing legs wider-toes outward a bit will help relieve pressure.Expermint to find what works best for you.

I assume your talking about the area just above the patella(kneecap bone). If thats where your pain is you could have stressed the tendon there or even partailly ruptured it. If you have pain when you press down on that area, then I'd say thats probably what it is. If your having pain elswhere in the knee it could be a number of different things.

I read an article from Dennis James I believe and he said how did his leg routine whilst not hurting his knees. It's pretty simple and I added in one variation. The first exercize should always be leg extensions. And do them for five sets. When you squat you cannot use stupid weight and may want to try using the smith machine. Also don't go to crazy when you are working your hamstrings. And lastly, before you leave the gym do one for set of leg extensions. Works for me.
