Help me set up a connection to my roommate's computer whether it be wireless or ether

Ok. I have an ethernet cable and both of our computers are conncected to a US Robotics wireless router for internet. I need to get a huge file off of his computer so that he can take my laptop to present this file to our captain. (it's a lot easier taking a laptop than a desktop ).

So, how do I do this. I would prefer the wireless but, it does not matter. Thanks

Yup, your computers are already connected so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

That link doesn't help me because it only says how to setup for people on my pc. It doesn't say how for a network.

However, I put his folder that he wishes to share in his "Shared Documents" folder and clicked "share this folder" but it still isn't showing up in MY "Shared Documents" folder.

go to his machine and go to Start-->Run and then type cmd

in this black box type ipconfig
Write down the IP address

Go to your machine and go to Start-->Run and then type in \\<his IP address> and then hit enter. it should bring up a window with the shares that are on his computer and you can cut and paste between your two machines

it still isn't working. I don't know what the deal is. WE both have our firewalls off. I'm stumped, and I am good with PC's
