Hey guys,
First off i want to thank everyone in here. The last 3 years of my life I have no cared about my body and all I have done is abuse it! Since I signed up on this site. Everything has been gradually comming back together and now am in the best shape of my life. Never thought I'd be in the gym 7 days a week and have such a strict diet lifestyle. Never thought i could gain muscle and was always the skinny kid my whole life. Until now. And let me tell you it feels great!!! I was drinking, smoking weed, and cigaretts everyday for the past 3 years. 3 months ago i stopped drinking, maybe its 1-2 times a month now. Quit weed about 2 weeks ago, and believe me that was the hardest thing ever. I depended on that for all my stress and it was the only way for me to fall asleep. I've never even gone a day without it. Now i only have one last thing to do. Quit smoking!!! I've tried it a few times but never could get past 2 days. I have enough displine to wake up do early morning cardio on an Empty stomach for an hour then hit the weights 2hrs later. 6 meals a day, no fast food or eating out in the last 3 months, but i can't quit smoking for the life of me. It really gets to me that im so addicted to them. Its the last habbit i have to get rid of and i just can't seem to be able to do it. PLEASE to anyone that can help me quit this disgusting habbit!! I've been so dedicated and i hate knowing the fact that im just hindering and hurting myself with something i'm addicted to. How do i quit? Thank you so much for your time in reading this!

A lot of self control is the first step. Then there are aids, some herbal aids, but mostly patches and gums. The combination seems to help a lot of smokers quit.

Bro, i've been through my own addictions in the past but mine were to illegal substance that was very hard to obtain(GHB).....so i can see where it would have been even harder if every time i walked into a store to pay for gas i had to see it staring me in the face! i feel for ya bro, i know it sucks but just give it all you got and think about your health and how much money you'll save if you quit, how much better you'll smell! you can do it

I dont have an addictive personality...but im sorry to hear your addicted to cigarettes...when you look at it..its like your doing great with your training, diet and "supplemention" but at the same time your harming your body with cigarettes....one forwared 3 back...you know what I mean...Its good to hear you want to kick the habbit...like Mr. X said there are lots of herbals, patches...you may want to talk to your Dr. as well and see what they can do..

Bro, try nicoderm CQ it is the patch, try it I did and I haven't had a smoke in 5 years, not to say I haven't craved them because I have but I never went back, really try it, patch and bust your balls at the gym you will be amazed, your body doesn't need that smoke. Oh by the way the other thing you really need is......WILLPOWER without that forget it. Hope that helps brother, be strong you can do it!

See thats what really gets to me, the fact the i don't have an addictive personality either, i can quit everything else and not get addicted to anything, except.... cigaretts. Sux!

i was the same way bro.... i don't consider myself as an addictive person, but that one thing i had a very tough time with

Bro, I just quit smoking about 1 1/2 years ago after smoking for about 8 years about 2 packs/day. I went through some of the same problems with drinking and weed and such and quit that a few years back too. I can tell you how I quit smoking. I woke up one day and made my mind to just not touch another smoke. You have to do it one day at a time, and just tell yourself that you will not smoke today and everyday you will feel better and better and think less and less about smoking. Try this Im telling you after about 2 weeks you will not even want a smoke. Good luck

buddy you just have to do it. My brother smoked a pack a day, and my wife smoked too, and after hanging out with me and the health lifestyle I have been leading both of them quit. Both of them went cold turkey, and never touched it again.....easier said than done but, "JUST DO IT"...i bet you your cardio will improve dramatically...best of luck

You can find homeopathic nicotine in disolving tabs at many heath food stores and vitamin stores. They seemed to work for a lot of people when I had my store....I sold lots of them....Even GNC carries them....its diluted nicotine just like the patch or gum.....but it costs MUCH less. Give them a try.

if you rely only on will power you will fail. nicotine is just way to addictive. go to a doctor and get zyban(wellbutrin) it's an SNRI. the shit works great, plus it makes you feel good. it stops the reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine in certain parts of the brain which gives you that high feeling or sense of well being you get from nicotine. nicotine being a stimulant causes the release of these chemicals when you use it, which is why it is so addicting. use the nicotine gum the first few weeks because the zyban can take a few weeks to become effective.

i'm not saying you don't need will power....just don't think it's all you need. some people maybe, but nicotine is a powerful drug.

I'm a non smoker but i remember seeing John Clease on a TV anti smoking campain, he quit by doing the following:

Get an emtpy jar, fill it a third full of nub ends and then half filled it with water. Every time you get a craving shake the jar, then open it and smell the contents.
The smell kept putting him off smoking.

Good luck.

Good for you. Good Post I think alot of people don't realize that it's life style changes, BBing and working out, whether it be for fitness health etc. is a lifestyle. Keep up the good work

I think nicotine is physically addicting, not mentally... I have never smoked in my life so don't know what I can contribute but perhaps looking into the different gums and medications availble could be a start?

Hang in there bro, Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things to endure. I have done a lot of stupid stuff in my days and quiting smoking was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I smoked for over 10 years and I ended up quiting cold turkey. I tried to "Cut down" But that never ended in quitting. Honestly, I still get that wiff of smoke sometimes and want to light up.....and it has been over 5 years since I quit! Believe me....I'd never do it again. When you start waking up in the morning, and you are not coughing anymore.....and you can feel fresh air actually hitting your lungs when you breath, you'll thank yourself. Good luck, bro. Peace!

If you go to a good hypnotist and you CAN be hypnotized it will help you through the mid-term. Most people can be and I have seen it work.

Good idea. Anything is worth a try.

I smoked for 6 years and quit cold turkey. One night I went out to the bar and smoked so damn many cigs that I got sick and didn't want to touch another cig for atleast a day, then I just stayed away. I found that it works the best to surround yourself with good influences and stay away from people that smoke until you are not as susceptible. Don't get me wrong, it was tough, and I still get nic fits from time to time (been over 7 years!). But with the support of those who actually care about you, the burden becomes much easier to bear.

Great post!! Here in the states we call them butts. I quit smoking thirty years ago. One day I was out of smokes and was looking for a long butt. I found one on the garage floor. I picked it up and was going to light it when I asked myself "Are you really going to stick that disgusting thing in your mouth?" It changed my view point. From then on I looked at smoking as disgusting. Haven't had a smoke in thirty years.

Very hard to quit.....I smoked 13 years .....quit 1.5 years ago ....i used skoal chew tobacco for 3 days while quitting....I hate chew so i knew that i would not get hooked on it...cold turkey it the way to go ....cutting back dosent seem to work......good luck.

wellbutrin is suppose to helpl. You smoke for 2 weeks while taking it, then you stop smoking and it is suppose to curb the nicotine fits. I just started to chew instead. I said fuck it, I'll just be killing myself, better than taking everyone else down with me.

Hey bro, if I can kick a 3-4 bottle/wk nubain habit after 5 yrs, you can kick smokes. On 4/18 will be 1 yr to the day that I took my last injection of that shit. I joined EF specifically to keep my mind off of jonesin'. One thing I had going for me that will not really affect you is the extra $$$ I suddenly had jingling in my pocket. Having an extra $1000 a month or so to spend definitely eases the pain of withdrawals.

Personally I think 12 step programs suck-they're too God/Jesus-related for me since I can't ignore what I learned in science class about evolution.

The best way to kick I think is to find a substitute addiction that you like less. Ex. Somas(in moderation), masturbation, posting more often on EF, Espresso, caffeinated gum, etc-anything that makes you feel ok, but you could live without no prob. Then work on kicking the substitute once you're off the smokes 100%.

PM me if you need any extra help/support-and I'll tell you how I turned $140 cash into a million dollar/yr biz in 3 yrs and almost lost it all 5 yrs later because I turned into an unmotivated, apathetic- zombie.

Thank you everyone for your support, on day 2 now no smokes, 1 day longer than last, man tho, the worst time i want a stoke is when im sitting in my car driving. I bought like 20 packs of gum, my breathe is always minty lol.

I've heard many times in the past that if you can make it past the 72 hr mark, you've got it half whipped. Hang in there bro-it's mind over matter.

Sorry to hear about your battle bro, just remember what Henry Ford once said ," If you think you CAN or CAN'T you're right".

But here's the bottom line, the physical addiction of cigarettes leaves you in 72 hours the rest is all the mental addiction. Having said that if, you can break the mental reminder of having a smoke such as after eating, after having sex or while drinking or being at a social gathering you'll be fine.

Just remember you can do this Bro! I wish you all the best!!!

Stick to it Bro......if you made it one day you can do it........day 1 is the hardest.

H. Ford was a trip. I heard he met a potential biz partner for dinner at a restaurant once and didn't choose him based solely on the fact that the guy salted his food before he tasted it. Bad move for that guy. Everytime I see someone salt their food before they taste it I can't help but think of that. Look before you leap I guess?
